Weekly Update September 18, 2026

September 18, 2026

To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community

This Saturday is our Eagle Rock Oktoberfest, and we’re looking forward to welcoming our neighbors, families and friends to Solheim for an evening of food, music and community! The festivities take place from 5:00–9:00 p.m. in our Health Center parking lot, and this year our celebration happens to coincide with the opening weekend of Oktoberfest in Germany — a fitting weekend to enjoy this tradition right here in Eagle Rock.

Admission is complimentary for Solheim residents, and we encourage you to invite family and friends to join you! Oktoberfest is open to the entire community, with admission $10 for adults and reduced pricing for children. Guests can purchase tickets and find additional information at www.solheimsenior.org/oktoberfest. German themed food and beverages will be available for purchase. Our regular resident dinner will still be served in the Dining Room, so you are welcome to enjoy your usual meal and join the festivities afterward, or make Oktoberfest your evening meal instead. If you have questions or would like to see food and beverage pricing in advance, please stop by the Front Desk or ask Tina Antypas. As we prepare for Saturday’s festivities, please note that the Health Center parking lot will be closed beginning Friday evening. We appreciate your understanding as we transform the space for Oktoberfest!

As September winds down, we are also approaching the end of the third quarter, which means it is time to tally our Solheim Feeling Employee Recognition nominations. If a team member has done something special for you or demonstrated the kindness, compassion and service that exemplify the Solheim Feeling, we’d love to hear about it. Nomination forms are available at the Front Desk and nursing stations, or you can submit one online at www.solheimsenior.org/employee-recognition. Each quarter, an employee is recognized from each of our five departments, and from our quarterly honorees, one will ultimately be selected as our Employee of the Year. Most importantly, your kind words and recognition mean a great deal to our employees, so please take a moment to share them.

There’s plenty to look forward to in the coming week as well. On Monday, September 21, we’re headed to our neighborhood theater, Vidiots, for a private showing of the classic musical On the Town from 2:00–4:00 p.m. We’ll have the theater to ourselves! Tickets are $12, the bus loads at 1:15 p.m., and the film runs approximately one hour and 38 minutes. Reservations are required; contact Ashley Brayman at abrayman@solheimsenior.org for more information.

We’ll also have several opportunities to ask questions and keep learning. On Wednesday, September 23 at 10:00 a.m., join Amber and Sheila from our RCFE Nursing team for a Q&A session, followed on Thursday, September 24 at 10:00 a.m. by Tech Talk with Spenser. These informal sessions are a great chance to bring your questions, learn something new and take advantage of the many resources available right here at Solheim. Continuing to learn, explore and stay curious is an important part of abundant living at every age.

And learning can be delicious, too! On Thursday at 3:00 p.m. in the Navigage Room, Chef Brooke will lead a Teaching Kitchen where we’ll learn to make dumplings— and we suspect there may be a tasty sample or two afterward! With gardening, games and many other activities happening throughout the week, be sure to check your calendar and in-house Channel 1390 so you don’t miss something you might enjoy.

Masks for all visitors to our campus will be available upon request.  Questions may also be directed to Tina Antypas at 323-257-7518 extension 225 or at tantypas@solheimsenior.org.
