Weekly Update September 25, 2026
September 25, 2026
To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community
What a wonderful evening we had at our Eagle Rock Oktoberfest! Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the celebration such a success. It was especially nice to see residents, families, friends and neighbors from throughout the community enjoying an evening together right here at Solheim. From the food and festivities to simply spending time together, events like Oktoberfest remind us how fortunate we are to be part of such a vibrant community. Thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, supported the event or helped behind the scenes to make the evening possible!
This week also brought the official beginning of fall — although apparently no one has told the weather! With temperatures still reaching into the upper 80s, please continue to drink plenty of water and take advantage of the hydration stations located throughout campus. Even as the calendar changes seasons, staying hydrated remains important.
As September comes to a close, so does the third quarter, which means there are only a few more days to submit your Solheim Feeling Employee Recognition nominations. Has a team member gone above and beyond, brightened your day or demonstrated the kindness and compassion that make Solheim special? Please tell us! Forms are available at the Front Desk and nursing stations, or nominations can be submitted online at www.solheimsenior.org/employee-recognition. Each quarter, we recognize an outstanding employee from each of our five departments, with our quarterly honorees becoming candidates for Employee of the Year. Your kind words are meaningful to our team members and are a wonderful way to recognize someone who has made a difference.
Safety is an important part of caring for our community. This week, we completed our annual regulatory testing of Solheim’s emergency generators to help ensure these important systems are ready when needed. Thank you to everyone for your patience and understanding during the testing process.
There was some delicious learning happening this past week as well! Residents joined Chef Brooke in our Teaching Kitchen to learn how to make dumplings, and those lessons carried over into Friday’s Happy Hour, where we enjoyed dumpling soup made with fresh lemongrass grown right here in our Solheim garden. It was a fun example of our garden, activities and Dining team all coming together — with some tasty results!
Looking ahead, on Monday at 1:30 p.m. we’ll head out for another Scenic Drive, this time through our neighboring Highland Park community. Our October calendars are also being prepared, and we’re looking forward to another month filled with opportunities to socialize, learn, stay active and nurture the mind, body and spirit. Be sure to watch for your new calendar and check in-house Channel 1390 for all that’s happening around campus.
As we say goodbye to September and welcome October, we hope you’ll continue to find new ways to participate, connect with your neighbors and enjoy the abundant life that makes Solheim such a special community.
Masks for all visitors to our campus will be available upon request. Questions may also be directed to Tina Antypas at 323-257-7518 extension 225 or at tantypas@solheimsenior.org.
