Weekly Update August 7, 2026

August 7, 2026

To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community

As we begin August, there is a familiar sense of transition in the air. Families are preparing for the return to school, and it is a good reminder that learning, growing, and staying curious are lifelong pursuits. At Solheim, every week brings opportunities to try something new, join a conversation, share an idea, or simply spend time with neighbors and friends.

We saw that spirit of connection at National Night Out this past Tuesday, where we enjoyed a wonderful turnout and the opportunity to gather and collaborate with our neighbors. It was a great example of Solheim being part of the larger Eagle Rock community, and we are grateful to everyone who participated.

Looking ahead to the week of August 10, two important gatherings give residents an opportunity to help shape life at Solheim. Resident Council meets Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel, and Resident Town Hall is Thursday at 10:00 a.m. These meetings are opportunities to ask questions, share ideas and concerns, hear updates, and have a voice in the community. We encourage residents to attend, whether they have something specific to discuss or simply want to listen and stay informed.

There are also plenty of opportunities to get involved throughout the week. Monday includes Bible Study, Word Games, Bingo, and Poker Club. Tuesday features Walking Club, Music & Movement, and a special Spa Day from 2:00–4:00 p.m. On Wednesday, residents can join Life Enrichment Chat with Ashley, Chair Yoga, Super Bingo, The Art of Needles Circle, Prayer Service, and evening classical entertainment with Kathy and Patrick Marsh. Thursday brings the August Birthday Lunch, Brain Games, and Mexican Train Dominoes. Friday includes Coffee & Conversation, Pet Therapy, Adventures with Doug: Adventure to Mount Hoffman, Bingo, and a Karaoke Happy Hour. Saturday rounds out the week with Coffee Club, Solheim Book Club, Brain Games, and Movie & Popcorn.

There is even more to anticipate later in August, including outings, live entertainment, technology programs, and Solheim’s Annual Hawaiian Luau with hula dancers on August 28, followed by a Summer Concert in the Park outing on August 30.

As students head back to school, perhaps we can borrow a little of that back-to-school spirit ourselves: stay curious, participate, ask questions, and keep discovering something new. Be sure to review the monthly activity calendars, tune in to Solheim In-House Channel 1390, and watch the weekly Informers for reminders and updates. We hope everyone finds at least one opportunity this week to join in, connect with others, and enjoy life at Solheim.

Masks for all visitors to our campus will be available upon request.  For additional information, please visit our website at www.solheimsenior.org. Questions may also be directed to Tina Antypas at 323-257-7518 extension 225 or at tantypas@solheimsenior.org.
