Weekly Update July 31, 2026
July 31, 2026
To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community
As we close out the month of July, it's hard to believe how quickly summer has passed. These final days are a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the friendships, activities, and special moments we've shared while looking forward to all that August will bring. Thank you for helping make Solheim the warm, caring community that it is.
Next week, we hope you'll join us for National Night Out on Tuesday, August 4. Solheim is partnering with our neighboring church for this nationwide event celebrating community, safety, and being good neighbors. Everyone is invited to enjoy an evening of fellowship, fun, and connection as we strengthen the relationships that make our community so special.
Be sure to watch for the August Activity Calendars, coming soon. Our Resident Life team has planned another wonderful month of programs, outings, fitness classes, music, games, educational opportunities, and social events. We encourage everyone to take a look—you may just discover a new favorite activity!
Last week we shared how Solheim began as a modest 12-room home more than 100 years ago. As the organization grew, so did the dedication of the volunteers serving on its Board of Directors. In those early years, board members helped raise funds, advocated throughout the community, and worked tirelessly to ensure Solheim could continue caring for older adults. Their commitment established a tradition of stewardship that continues today.
That same spirit lives on through our Board, residents, families, volunteers, donors, and community partners, all working together to ensure Solheim remains a thriving, faith-based community for generations to come.
One wonderful example is our annual Eagle Rock Oktoberfest, taking place Saturday, September 19, from 5:00–9:00 p.m. This community celebration brings together residents, families, friends, and neighbors for an evening of food, music, and fun. As we prepare for this year's event, we're looking for sponsors who would like to support Solheim's mission. If you or someone you know is interested in sponsorship opportunities, please contact Tina Antypas at tantypas@solheimsenior.org for more information.
As we welcome August, thank you for being an important part of Solheim. Whether you're attending an activity, volunteering, supporting an event, or simply sharing a smile with a neighbor, you help make this community extraordinary. We wish you a happy, healthy, and enjoyable start to the new month.
Masks for all visitors to our campus will be available upon request. For additional information, please visit our website at www.solheimsenior.org. Questions may also be directed to Tina Antypas at 323-257-7518 extension 225 or at tantypas@solheimsenior.org.
