As we welcome the Summer Solstice this weekend and celebrate the official first day of summer, we look forward to longer days, warm sunshine, and opportunities to enjoy all that our beautiful campus has to offer. Whether you're taking a stroll, visiting with friends, or relaxing in a shady spot, we encourage everyone to enjoy the season while remembering to stay hydrated and take care during the warmer weather.
This weekend also brings Father's Day, a special time to recognize and celebrate all those who have filled fatherly roles in our lives. We honor fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, foster fathers, mentors, caregivers, and all those who have offered guidance, support, and love to others throughout the years.
Food continues to be one of the wonderful ways we bring people together at Solheim, creating opportunities for fellowship, celebration, and memorable experiences. Just last week, residents in our Health Center enjoyed a fabulous Greek-themed Dinner Under the Stars, complete with delicious Mediterranean cuisine, laughter, and plenty of "OPA!" spirit. Events like these remind us how food has a unique way of connecting people and creating lasting memories.
We're excited to continue the tradition this coming Thursday, June 25, when our Residential Living residents will enjoy a very special Dinner Under the Stars prepared by Chef Brooke. She will present an elevated five-course dining experience unlike anything previously served at Solheim, thoughtfully paired with seasonal beverages. This promises to be a truly memorable evening of culinary creativity and community. Residents interested in attending may sign up on the sheet located in the Fountain Room.
Looking ahead, on Monday, June 22, residents are invited to join another scenic drive around town. These outings continue to be a favorite opportunity to enjoy local sights, spend time with friends, and experience the beauty of our surrounding community.
Don't forget to mark your calendars for Summer Fest Happy Hour on Friday, June 26. We'll be celebrating all things summer with festive refreshments, great company, and one of our most creative activities yet—a cardboard bikini contest! Participants will be designing and modeling imaginative summer beachwear creations made entirely from cardboard. It's sure to bring plenty of laughter, creativity, and unforgettable memories.
