Weekly Update May 29, 2026

May 29, 2026
To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community

As we move into the final days of May and look forward to all that June will bring, we are grateful for another week filled with learning, connection, and meaningful experiences throughout the Solheim community. The longer days and (soon to be) warmer weather create opportunities to gather, explore new interests, and enjoy the many relationships that make Solheim such a special place to call home.

This week we are excited to share news about an upcoming enhancement to our dining services. Solheim will soon be introducing a new dining ordering system designed to make meal planning more convenient and accessible for residents and families. The system will allow orders to be placed from anywhere, at any time, for a single meal or up to two weeks in advance.

For families of residents in Skilled Nursing who assist with meal selections, this new system will eliminate the need to pick up and return paper menus. Families who would like to participate in advance meal planning for loved ones in Memory Care will also have that opportunity, while our dining and care teams continue to provide nutritionally balanced meals that reflect resident preferences and needs. Access for both Skilled Nursing and Memory Care residents will be limited to each resident's designated responsible party.

Residential Living residents will be able to place their own orders directly through the system, allowing meal selections to be sent instantly to the kitchen without relying on paper tickets or staff delivery. We believe this added flexibility will allow residents and families to make dining choices when it is most convenient for them. In the coming weeks, we will be offering training sessions and additional information for those interested in using the new system.

One of the highlights of the week was another wonderful Teaching Kitchen experience with Chef Brooke. Residents rolled up their sleeves and learned the art of homemade pasta making, discovering both the techniques and traditions behind creating fresh pasta from scratch. Programs like these provide far more than a delicious meal. They encourage lifelong learning, creativity, social engagement, and a sense of accomplishment while bringing people together around a shared experience. We are grateful for Chef Brooke's passion and the joy she continues to bring to our community through these hands-on culinary adventures.

Residents in Skilled Nursing also enjoyed a beautiful evening during our Dining Under the Stars event. Sharing a special meal outdoors provided an opportunity to enjoy the fresh air, good food, and, most importantly, one another's company. Experiences like these are an important part of our commitment to providing an abundant life at Solheim. When residents gather for meals, celebrations, educational programs, and special events, they strengthen friendships, build community, and create lasting memories. These moments of connection support emotional well-being and foster the sense of belonging that is at the heart of the Solheim Feeling.

As June approaches, we are excited for the many opportunities ahead. From seasonal activities and outdoor gatherings to educational programs and community celebrations, there is much to look forward to in the weeks ahead.

Masks for all visitors to our campus will be available upon request.
