Weekly Update May 1, 2026

May 1, 2026

To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community

As we step into the month of May, we’re reminded of the beauty of new beginnings, fresh growth, and the simple joys that surround us each day. The changing season invites us to notice what’s blooming—both in nature and within our community. May 1st, often known as May Day, has long been a celebration of spring and kindness. Traditionally, neighbors would leave small baskets of flowers as a gesture of goodwill, a simple reminder that even the smallest acts of care can brighten someone’s day.

At our recent board meeting, we heard some fun and surprising insights from our dining team that offer a glimpse into the scale of care behind every meal at Solheim. Each year, our community enjoys approximately 25,000 bananas and nearly 3,000 pounds of ice cream. These numbers may bring a smile, but they also reflect the thoughtful planning and daily dedication of a team that works hard to ensure residents are well-nourished and delighted. It’s just one example of the many ways care is expressed in the rhythms of daily life here.

Looking ahead, we are excited to celebrate Team Member Appreciation Week—a special time to recognize the individuals who bring compassion, skill, and heart to everything they do, making Solheim feel like home. Throughout the week, we’ll enjoy a series of fun daily themes, and residents, families, and friends are invited to join in—whether by dressing up, sharing a kind note, or simply offering a heartfelt word of thanks. These small gestures come together to create a joyful and memorable celebration.

We also welcome support from our community during this meaningful week. Whether by sponsoring a full day, contributing to part of a day, or making a gift in honor of our team, your generosity helps us create moments of genuine gratitude for those who give so much to our residents. To contribute, please scan the QR code or contact Tina Antypas at tantypas@solheimsenior.org.

As May begins, may we take time to notice the beauty around us, express gratitude for those who care for us, and continue building a community rooted in kindness and connection. It’s not just where we live—it’s how we care for one another that makes it home.

Masks for all visitors to our campus will be available upon request.
