Weekly Update April 17, 2026

April 17, 2026

To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community

Spring is in full swing, bringing longer days, fresh air, and the perfect opportunity to refresh our spaces and routines. As we embrace this season of renewal—and with Earth Day just around the corner on April 22—it’s a great time to think about ways we can care for both our environment and ourselves.

In just one week from Saturday, Solheim will host a Drive-Through Shredding Event on Saturday, April 25th from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM (or until the truck fills up) in our Skilled Nursing parking lot. This event is open to the public, so please feel free to invite family and friends.

Shredding old documents is a simple but powerful way to protect yourself from identity theft while also reducing clutter. Spring cleaning isn’t just about tidying up—it can bring peace of mind, create a sense of order, and even boost your mood. Plus, secure shredding ensures sensitive materials are responsibly recycled, making it a small but meaningful way to support sustainability.

Looking ahead, we are excited to celebrate Team Member Appreciation Week from May 4th through May 8th. Each day will feature a different theme along with special treats and activities to recognize the incredible dedication of our staff—those who bring the Solheim Feeling to life every day through kindness, compassion, and joy in service.

We welcome support from our community during this special week. Whether by sponsoring a full day, contributing to part of a day, or making a gift in honor of our team, your generosity helps us celebrate those who give so much to our residents. You can scan the QR code or contact Tina Antypas at tantypas@solheimsenior.org to contribute.

We also invite you to take part in our Solheim Feeling Employee Recognition Program. A few kind words can go a long way—recognition from residents, families, and colleagues means more than you might imagine. These nominations not only brighten someone’s day but are also used in selecting our Employees of the Quarter.

If a staff member has made a difference in your life, we encourage you to share your appreciation. Recognition forms are available at the nursing stations and front desk, or online at:

We would like to inform you that Cheryl Armas, Assistant Director of Nursing, is no longer with Solheim Senior Community. We thank Cheryl for her four years of service and appreciate her commitment and the care she provided to our residents and team. We wish her all the best in her future endeavors.

We want to assure you that all necessary measures have been taken to ensure continuity in our operations. If you need any assistance, please reach out to Kelly Medina, Director of Nursing.

All staff working on our Skilled Nursing Campus are required to wear a well-fitting, high-quality mask or higher-level respirator. Visitors to the Health Center are required to wear a mask and will be offered a COVID-19 antigen test prior to entry.

For additional information, please visit our website at www.solheimsenior.org. Questions may also be directed to Tina Antypas at 323-257-7518 extension 225 or at tantypas@solheimsenior.org.
