Weekly Update February 6, 2026

February 6, 2026
To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community

As we head into a new week at Solheim, we are pleased to share some exciting news. Amber Jackson, our new Director of Residential Health and Wellness, will be joining our community starting Tuesday of next week. She will be working closely with Meg Spurlin and Shiela Lucas as she becomes familiar with our residential, assisted living, and memory care nursing operations, and as she gets to know our residents and staff. Please join us in giving Amber a very warm welcome—we are delighted to have her on our team.

This week brings moments of shared celebration both within and beyond our community. Today, Friday, February 6, marks the Opening Ceremonies of the 2026 Winter Olympics, a tradition that celebrates perseverance, teamwork, and unity. That same spirit continues on Sunday, February 8, when residents are invited to gather for Super Bowl Sunday, with food and refreshments served beginning at 3:30 p.m. in the Navigage Room.

On Tuesday, February 10, the Resident Council Meeting will take place at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel. Later that afternoon, at 1:30 p.m. in the Fountain Room, the LA County Mental Health Wellness Series will present a program on Elder Financial Exploitation, focused on fraud prevention and financial safety. Tuesday also includes an Antique Shopping outing to Pasadena at 1:30 p.m., offering a chance to enjoy a walk down memory lane and explore the stories antiques often inspire.

The week continues on Wednesday, February 11, with the Resident Town Hall Meeting at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel, providing an opportunity for community-wide updates and conversation.

We would also like to share an important update for our Memory Care neighborhood. Effective today, Friday, dining times have been adjusted to 12:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. in the Country Kitchen, and 12:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. in the Daybreak Dining Area. Life enrichment programming will be extended prior to mealtimes to support a smoother transition to dining.

As the week unfolds, we kindly remind residents to complete the Resident Satisfaction Survey if you have not already done so. Your feedback is invaluable and helps guide improvements across our community.

To participate in this important survey, please follow the link below by February 20th:

Residents are also encouraged to review the calendar for opportunities to learn a new language, play games together, enjoy music, and strengthen both body and mind. Tune into Channel 1390 for daily activities.

All staff working on our Skilled Nursing Campus are required to wear a well-fitting, high-quality mask or higher-level respirator. Visitors to the Health Center are required to wear a mask and will be offered a COVID-19 antigen test prior to entry.
