Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community

Independence Day is truly the most patriotic of all of America’s national holidays—and however you choose to celebrate this wonderful commemoration of the founding of this great nation (picnics, barbeques, fireworks shows, family gatherings, etc.), I wish our entire extended Solheim Family a very safe and happy 4th of July!

Last Friday residents enjoyed a beautiful evening for our Solheim Senior Prom!  I’m pleased to announce that residents voted Retha Matson and Phillip Starr as their Prom Queen and King!  I’d also like to thank all our staff and friends who participated in our Blood Drive this past Wednesday!  We’re pleased to be able to help make a difference in our community, thanks to your help!

Summer seems to be here, so I’ll mention this again!  Hydration is very important!  Drinking enough water each day is crucial for many reasons: to regulate body temperature, keep joints lubricated, prevent infections, deliver nutrients to cells, and keep organs functioning properly. Being well-hydrated also improves sleep quality, cognition, and mood. We’ve added new hydration stations throughout campus that will be stocked with infused water, in order to help keep everyone healthy and hydrated during these hot months – enjoy!

We will soon be recognizing our 2nd Quarter Employees of the Quarter, and I encourage you to submit your nominations through our “Solheim Feeling” nomination cards.  Today is the last day to submit nominations for the 2nd Quarter.  Forms may be found at the nursing stations, our front desk, or you may submit one online at www.solheimsenior.org/employee-recognition .

Visitation Guidelines remain unchanged from last week.  Masks are no longer required for residents, team members, or visitors, although they are still recommended or encouraged.  Masks are still required for all team members and visitors to our Health Center (Skilled Nursing).  All Solheim visitors and staff members must continue to conduct self-screening for symptoms of possible COVID-19 infection prior to entry.  We ask all staff and visitors to confirm the following upon entry:

  • Currently have no known COVID-19 infection;

  • Not experiencing symptoms associated with possible COVID-19 infection; and

  • Have not had close contact, within the last 14 days, with another person known to have a COVID-19 infection

As of today, we have no new staff or residents who have tested positive for Covid-19. If
