Weekly Update June 16, 2023
June 16, 2023
To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community
This Past Sunday, Solheim held its Annual Meeting of the Corporation. I am very pleased to announce that two new Board Members (Susan Auer and Chuck Killian) were elected to the Board of Directors, with Susan Stark being elected to serve as new Board Chair, and Renee Brandt (our Immediate Past Board Chair) graciously continuing to serve on the board for another year. I am also grateful for the many years of collective support and dedication that our retiring Board Members have provided to Solheim (so far!). Thank you so much, CL Keedy III, Bill Krantz, and Pastor Keith Banwart – I am both hopeful and confident that you will all continue to be involved with Solheim moving forward as we prepare to enter our 2nd Century of Service!
This coming Wednesday is the 1st Day of Summer – the “Summer Solstice.” We certainly do hope the sun finally cooperates and shines brightly for us all day long! We also encourage you to wear yellow that day in celebration of National Wear Yellow Day. Relatedly, as I mentioned last week, hydration is particularly important this time of year! To help facilitate healthy water consumption habits, we have installed hydration stations throughout campus that are stocked with tasty fruit-infused water. Enjoy!
As a reminder, at yesterday’s Resident Town Hall meeting we announced that we are preparing to transition our cable TV package and finalize our wiring project – which will bring a dedicated private WiFi signal to each apartment in our Residential and Assisted Living campus. We will be coming to visit with each of you to discuss this in the coming weeks and try to answer any questions or address any concerns that you might have. I understand that some of our residents might be paying for supplemental services, such as enhanced Cable TV or telephone; rest assured that we will work with you on an individual basis to help you decide if transitioning to our new package is the right decision for you (it is NOT required). We’ll continue to communicate our progress with you in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!
Invitations have gone out for our Senior Prom, which will take place next Friday from 6:30-7:30 pm featuring live music, drinks and appetizers. Today is our deadline for RSVP’s, so please be sure to reach out to Ashley Brayman at abrayman@solheimsenior.org. This is sure to be a fun event… please don’t forget to share your nominations for Prom King and Queen!
Finally, a reminder that Solheim is partnering with Huntington Hospital to host their Blood Mobile on site on June 28th. Contact Tina Antypas at tantypas@solheimsenior.org to schedule your donation time between 9am - 3:30pm.
Visitation Guidelines remain unchanged from last week. Masks are no longer required for residents, team members, or visitors, although they are still recommended or encouraged. Masks are still required for all team members and visitors to our Health Center (Skilled Nursing). All Solheim visitors and staff members must continue to conduct self-screening for symptoms of possible COVID-19 infection prior to entry. We ask all staff and visitors to confirm the following upon entry:
Currently have no known COVID-19 infection;
Not experiencing symptoms associated with possible COVID-19 infection; and
Have not had close contact, within the last 14 days, with another person known to have a COVID-19 infection
As of today, we have no new staff or residents who have tested positive for Covid-19. If
If you have any specific questions, please direct them to Tina Antypas at 323 257-7518 X225 or tantypas@solheimsenior.org.
