Weekly Update June 9, 2023
June 9, 2023
To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community
This coming Sunday, Solheim will hold its Annual Meeting of the Corporation. As you all know, this year, we are proudly celebrating our 100th year of service to older adults, as we continue to fulfil our mission of providing abundant living for older adults in a caring, faith-based community filled with love, peace, dignity and security! Once again, this year, the Annual Meeting will be held virtually. We will be presenting new Board Members for consideration to join our Solheim Board of Directors. This meeting is a gathering of delegates from our ELCA church congregations and other interested parties; if you would like to join us for our Annual Meeting, please contact Tina Antypas to request a link for access to this (virtual) meeting.
I’m an optimist, and I choose to believe that Summer weather is right around the corner – so I’d like to take a moment to remind you hydration is very important! Drinking enough water each day is crucial for many reasons: water helps to regulate body temperature, keep joints lubricated, prevent infections, deliver nutrients to cells, and keep organs functioning properly. Being well-hydrated also improves sleep quality, cognition, and mood. To help facilitate healthy water consumption habits, we have installed hydration stations throughout campus that are stocked with tasty fruit-infused water. Enjoy!
As I’ve mentioned before, our Centennial Planning Committee and Life Enrichment Team are organizing several events with opportunities for you to participate! “World Blood Donor Day” falls in June, and Solheim is partnering with Huntington Hospital to host their Blood Mobile on site on June 28th. This fantastic opportunity to help save lives is open to all staff, as well as members of our greater community! Contact Tina Antypas at tantypas@solheimsenior.org to schedule your donation time between 9am - 3:30pm. There’s also quite a buzz around the community about our Senior Prom which is taking place on Friday June 23rd – so dust off those dancing shoes and start thinking of your nominations for Prom King and Queen! Visit the Centennial website for more events at www.solheimsenior.org/100.
Visitation Guidelines remain unchanged from last week. Masks are no longer required for residents, team members and visitors however are still recommended or encouraged. Masks are still required for all team members and visitors to our Health Center (Skilled Nursing). All Solheim visitors and staff members must continue to conduct self-screening for symptoms of possible COVID-19 infection prior to entry. We ask all staff and visitors to confirm the following upon entry:
Currently have no known COVID-19 infection;
Not experiencing symptoms associated with possible COVID-19 infection; and
Have not had close contact, within the last 14 days, with another person known to have a COVID-19 infection
As of today, we have no new staff or residents who have tested positive for Covid-19.
