Weekly Update June 2, 2023
June 2, 2023
To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community
I am pleased to announce that Lesia (pronounced, “Lisa”) McKenzie has officially joined Solheim’s Leadership Team as the new Human Resources Director. Lisa brings with her nearly 20 years of experience working in the HR field, and 10 years of experience on the management level – including substantial time spent working in the non-profit sector, including non-profit senior living. We are very excited to welcome Lesia to Solheim; we think that she will be a great fit for our special “Solheim Feeling” culture, so please be sure to give her a warm welcome when you see her on campus!
June is here, although you wouldn’t know that the Summer Solstice and the First Day of Summer is just around the corner with all the gloomy weather that we’ve been having… but our outlook here at Solheim remains bright! Today we took part in our Synod Assembly, and we are proud to share that Solheim Lutheran Church received recognition at the Assembly for their donation supporting the Federal Chaplaincies Fund for Leaders Scholarship. This recognition was received by our Pastor Violeta Sanders, and our Church Council President Janet Giertz.
As I mentioned last week, our Centennial Planning Committee and Life Enrichment Team are organizing several events with opportunities for you to participate! World Blood Donor Day falls in June, and Solheim is partnering with Huntington Hospital to host their Blood Mobile on site on June 28th. This fantastic opportunity to help save lives is open to all staff, as well as members of our greater community! Contact Tina Antypas at tantypas@solheimsenior.org to schedule your donation time between 9am - 4:30pm. There’s also quite a buzz around the community about our Senior Prom on Friday June 23rd, so dust off those dancing shoes and start thinking of your nominations for Prom King and Queen! Visit the Centennial website for more events at www.solheimsenior.org/100.
We are looking forward to Solheim’s annual meeting that will be held in just over a week, on June 11th at 4:00 p.m. Once again, this year, our Annual Meeting will be held virtually. We will be presenting new Board Members for consideration to join our Solheim Board of Directors. As a reminder: This meeting is a gathering of delegates from our ELCA church congregations and other interested parties. If you would like to join us for our Annual Meeting, please contact Tina Antypas to request a link for access to this (virtual) meeting.
Visitation Guidelines remain unchanged from last week. Masks are no longer required for residents, team members and visitors however are still recommended or encouraged. Masks are still required for all team members and visitors to our Health Center (Skilled Nursing). All Solheim visitors and staff members must continue to conduct self-screening for symptoms of possible COVID-19 infection prior to entry. We ask all staff and visitors to confirm the following upon entry:
Currently have no known COVID-19 infection;
Not experiencing symptoms associated with possible COVID-19 infection; and
Have not had close contact, within the last 14 days, with another person known to have a COVID-19 infection
As of today, we have no new staff or residents who have tested positive for Covid-19.
If you have any specific questions, please direct them to Tina Antypas at 323 257-7518 X225 or tantypas@solheimsenior.org.
