Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From:
Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community

Let Memorial Day be a day to count our blessings and remember those who served to protect our country and our freedom. We are forever grateful for the ultimate sacrifice of those who died for the United States of America. May their courage and dedication never be forgotten. I ask you to hold all of our Soldiers, past and present, in your thoughts and prayers.

Consider one of these ways to pay your respects on Memorial Day:

  • Attend a Memorial Day event

  • Place a flag for a hero

  • Volunteer with a local veterans’ organization

  • Send a card or care package to soldiers

  • Share a personal reflection

Our Centennial planning committee and Life Enrichment team are organizing a number of events with opportunities for you to participate! World Blood Donor Day falls in June, and Solheim is partnering with Huntington Hospital to host their Blood Mobile on site on June 28th.  A pint of blood could save three lives and the rewards to the donor are considerable.  This opportunity will be open to staff and our greater community as well!  Please mark your calendar and look for more information to come!

We’re very excited to be hosting a Senior Prom here at Solheim at the end of June, so start thinking of your nominations for Prom King and Queen, and dust off those dancing shoes. It’s time to pull out your party dress and suit, and we’ll have some special spa days set up as well!

As we look past June, we’ll be enjoying an Ice Cream Social in July, and we’re partnering with the 7th Day Adventist Church next door for National Night Out on August 1st.  We’ve scheduled our Oktoberfest for September 23rd, and of course the highlight of the year, our biggest fundraising event, the Centennial Masquerade Ball Gala on October 28th will be held at the beautiful La Canada Flintridge Country Club.  We have sponsorship and underwriting opportunities available, and to learn more, visit our Centennial website at www.solheimsenior.org/100

Visitation Guidelines remain unchanged from last week. Masks are no longer required for residents, team members and visitors however are still recommended or encouraged. Masks are still required for all team members and visitors to our Health Center (Skilled Nursing). All Solheim visitors and staff members must continue to conduct self-screening for symptoms of possible COVID-19 infection prior to entry. We ask all staff and visitors to confirm the following upon entry:

  • Currently have no known COVID-19 infection;

  • Not experiencing symptoms associated with possible COVID-19 infection; and

  • Have not had close contact, within the last 14 days, with another person known to have a COVID-19 infection

As of today, we have no new staff or residents who have tested positive for Covid-19.

If you have any specific questions, please direct them to Tina Antypas at 323 257-7518 X225 or tantypas@solheimsenior.org.
