Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community

This Monday, March 20th, marks the first day of Spring!   For me, Spring brings hope, new beginnings, and opportunities.  As we celebrate our Centennial year, I look back at Solheim’s founding, and how far we have come this past 100 years.  But I also look forward with hope and excitement for all the opportunities in front of us!   Visit our Centennial website to learn more at www.solheimsenior.org/100.

With spring upon us, this past weekend we moved our clocks forward, which means we have more daylight!  SUNSHINE!  Did you know that Solheim’s name was chosen because of its Norwegian meaning?  Solheim means SUN HOME!  We plan on SHINING BRIGHTLY for at least another 100 years!

We just held elections for our newest members of our Resident Council.  We thank our outgoing members – Lowell Ehrhardt, and Jeanne Mignard – for their dedication.  Our newest members will be Paul Breckenridge and Ingrid Kocourek, with Tom Cox, Mary Rough and Alice Ward returning for their 2nd year.  We still have an opening for two more members, so please let Ashley Brayman know if you are interested!

Please mark your calendars! Solheim is very pleased to invite up to 2 family members of each of our residents to a special Easter Lunch which will take place at 12:30 pm on Wednesday April 5th, (for a cost of $30 per person).   The deadline to RSVP to this event is Thursday, March 30th.  An invitation will be sent out separately.  For more information, contact Ashley Brayman at abrayman@solheimsenior.org.

Visitation Guidelines have been updated.  It is the policy of Solheim Senior Community to support visitation on campus in a manner that both preserves and respects residents’ rights while also simultaneously abiding by all current regulations and guidelines that have been promulgated by the LA County Public Health Department, CDPH, and CMS.

 Accordingly, all Solheim visitors and staff members must conduct self-screening for symptoms of possible COVID-19 infection prior to entry.  We ask all staff and visitors to confirm the following upon entry:

1)      Currently have no known COVID-19 infection;

2)      Not experiencing symptoms associated with possible COVID-19 infection; and

3)      Have not had close contact, within the last 14 days, with another person known to have a COVID-19 infection

 As of today, we have no new residents or staff who have tested positive for Covid-19.

If you have any specific questions, please direct them to Tina Antypas at 323 257-7518 X225 or tantypas@solheimsenior.org.
