Weekly Update March 10, 2023
March 10, 2023
To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community
March brings with-it Daylight-Saving Time, where we “spring forward” an hour this Saturday night, March 11th (we lose an hour of sleep but we gain more usable daylight as the sun sets later through the spring and summer months). March also brings with it the first day of spring on March 20th. Once our rain stops, and the sun begins to shine again, we encourage you to enjoy the beautiful weather and the longer days by visiting our outdoor spaces across campus!
As we continue to celebrate Solheim’s Centennial Year, I encourage you to visit the Centennial website at www.solheimsenior.org/100. Norma Heaton who serves on our Centennial Committee, and who held my position for several years has put together some very interesting tidbits of information about Solheim’s history. Did you know that the first committee formed by Solheim’s Board of Directors was the music committee! Among the first donations received to furnish the house was an organ for the parlor. Music continues to be an important component of resident activities today! Read more of these interesting historical facts on our Centennial History page: www.solheimsenior.org/hisotoryofsolheim-centennial .
Speaking of our Centennial, there are many opportunities for you to participate. We are currently offering the opportunity to sponsor or underwrite our Centennial Masquerade Ball to be held on October 28th, and are looking for unique experiences that we may auction at during our Live Auction. For more information, be sure to contact Tina Antypas, at tantypas@solheimsenior.org, or visit our Masquerade Ball website page at www.solheimsenior.org/masqueradeball
