Weekly Update February 10, 2023
February 10, 2023
To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community
As I was walking down the hall from my office not too long ago, I overheard a conversation between two residents coming out of the elevator on their way to the dining room. One said to the other: “Wasn’t it so nice to see family?!” I realize that having just come through the hustle and bustle of the holiday season in December, January can seem to move at a much slower pace for many of us -- but that comment reminded me of just how important those small interactions with family and friends are, and just how important it is to maintain and reaffirm those connections throughout the entire year.
Valentine’s Day is just around the corner – and it’s always a good excuse for lovers, friends, and family members alike to exchange Valentine Gifts as expressions of love (be it romantic or platonic). As part of our ongoing 2023 Centennial Celebration, we here at Solheim have created a special opportunity for you to “spread the love” by purchasing a card and gift for one of our residents! For just $30, you can bring joy to a resident and help to ensure that they will feel particularly loved this Valentine’s Day! You may make your gift by donating online at https://solheimsenior.org/donate or by mailing a check to our office. Please reach out to Tina Antypas (tantypas@solheimsenior.org) for more information, or see the email that we sent out yesterday afternoon!
Speaking of yesterday, we also just celebrated several residents whose birthdays fall in February! A special birthday lunch was prepared by our Dining staff, and all our residents enjoyed delicious salmon and filet mignon. I haven’t stopped hearing about the sumptuous food that they enjoyed at this wonderful event – so I want to give special thanks to our Dining Team!
As I mentioned before, we are still planning to host a Fashion Show highlighting all of the decades that have passed since our founding back in 1923. This show will feature displays of fashion, music, and dance… so please consider helping (loaning clothing to be modeled, modeling, or even helping research each decade) if you are able! This is sure to be one of the highlights of our Centennial year! Please contact Ashley Brayman (abrayman@solheimsenior.org) or Tina Antypas (tantypas@solheimsenior.org) for more information on how you can get involved with this fun and exciting event.
