Weekly Update December 12, 2025

December 12, 2025

To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From:
Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community

As the holidays draw near and the community sparkles a little more each day, I want to take a moment to celebrate all the warmth around us—while also remembering that this season can feel tender or difficult for some. If you’re feeling especially joyful right now, thank you for sharing that light. And if you’re feeling the weight of grief, stress, or loneliness, please know you’re not alone. In all the bustle of December, let’s make room for extra kindness, patience, and gentle understanding with one another—the “Solheim Feeling” is never more important than during the holidays.

Last evening’s Festival of Lights was a wonderful reminder of what makes this place so special. Between the live music, the caroling, and even a little snow, it truly felt magical. And as more decorations keep popping up around our campus, it’s exciting to realize we still have plenty of opportunities—less than two weeks from Christmas—to enjoy the season together in ways big and small.

One special celebration to look forward to is our Christmas Luncheon next Thursday, December 18, at noon. Residents are welcome to invite up to two guests, at a cost of $35 per guest. Please reach out to Ashley Brayman to RSVP at your earliest convenience so we can plan accordingly—we would love to share this festive meal and time together.

We also have several cheerful activities coming up in the days ahead. This coming Monday at 3:00 p.m., please join our cooking class as we make homemade cranberry relish—perfect for the season and even better when shared. On Tuesday at 10:00 a.m., we’ll gather to make Christmas cards, and later that same day we’ll head out for a tour to see the beautiful holiday lights. Wednesday brings a great opportunity to connect and feel informed: Mike, our Director of Resident Health and Wellness, will be available to answer any nursing questions you may have. And throughout the week, I encourage you to check your calendar for more ways to join in—whether it’s participating with our Library Committee, playing games, exercising, or settling in together to watch Christmas movies.  For the most up-to-date information, please be sure to tune into Channel 1390.

I would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to our Employee Holiday Fund. Your generosity is a beautiful expression of appreciation and care for the staff who support our community every day, and it truly makes a difference. While the fund is especially meaningful during the holiday season, it is available for donations year-round, and gifts at any time are always deeply appreciated.

All staff in our Skilled Nursing Campus must wear a well-fitting, high-quality mask or higher-level respirator. Visitors to our Health Center (Skilled Nursing) are required to wear a mask and will be offered a COVID-19 antigen test before entry.

If you have any specific questions, please direct them to Tina Antypas at 323-257-7518 X225 or tantypas@solheimsenior.org.
