October 24, 2025

To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From:
Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community

We had a fabulous Dinner under the Stars for our Residential Campus last evening, featuring a five-course meal carefully curated by Chef Brooke. The weather was perfect, and the food equally delectable.  (To check out the menu, reach out to Ashley!)  The witch hat napkin decorations added a touch of Halloween charm, setting the tone for the season just around the corner. Our Health Center Dinner under the Stars is scheduled for next Thursday, and we welcome guests to join their family members. Please be sure to RSVP to Ashley at abrayman@solheimsenior.org. Solheim brought a five-star restaurant experience to our residents, enhancing quality of life and reflecting what we always strive to provide—an abundant life. Thank you to everyone who helped make this evening so special. We look forward to next week’s dinner for our Health Center residents as well.

As our Merton and Manor Refresh Project continues, we appreciate everyone’s patience throughout the process. We’ll share detailed updates as specific phases progress or new issues arise. We’re also grateful for the flexibility of our visitors as we occasionally adjust our main entrance to the Health Center. The finish line is in sight, and we look forward to completing the project before the holidays arrive!

Our community calendar is brimming with opportunities to stay active and connected! With Halloween just around the corner, we have plenty of festive events to enjoy.  Join us on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Breezeway to make Halloween Hats, then stick around for a special showing of the original Frankenstein at 1:30 p.m. in the Fountain Room.  On October 30th, we’ll be launching our new Film Committee, who will help select our Saturday movies.  The fun continues on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with pumpkin painting, and on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., our Lifelong Learning session will feature classic scary cinema celebrating Halloween favorites.  On Thursday at 3 p.m. in the Residential Dining Room, don’t miss a special Halloween program with Monica and friends.  To cap off the week, get your costumes ready for our annual Costume Contest on Friday, October 31, at 3:00 p.m. in the Health Center Patio!

Beyond the Halloween festivities, we’ll have A Little Zoo Event with live animals on Tuesday the 28th at 3 p.m. in the Breezeway, and a special Budget Town Hall Meeting on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Chapel to discuss the 2026 Budget. Across campus, there are countless ways to engage body, mind, and spirit—be sure to check your monthly calendar or tune in to Channel 1390 for the latest updates.

As we enter this season of gratitude, we invite you to participate in the Employee Appreciation Fund, which will be distributed in December. Since tipping is not permitted, this fund provides a meaningful way to thank our dedicated staff. A suggested contribution of $300 per family helps us reach our goal, though every donation—large or small—is deeply appreciated. Contributions can be made easily at www.solheimsenior.org/donate.

All staff in our Skilled Nursing Campus must wear a well-fitting, high-quality mask or higher-level respirator. Visitors to our Health Center (Skilled Nursing) are required to wear a mask and will be offered a COVID-19 antigen test before entry.

If you have any specific questions, please direct them to Tina Antypas at 323-257-7518 X225 or tantypas@solheimsenior.org.
