Time to Fall Back!
This Sunday marks the end of Daylight Saving Time, so don’t forget to set your clocks back one hour before going to bed on Saturday night. Many clocks and devices will reset automatically, but if you spot one that doesn’t, please let your nursing station or the front desk know—we’ll be happy to help. As we “fall back” into standard time, we gain an extra hour of rest—a gentle reminder to slow down, recharge, and enjoy the cozy comforts of the season.
Halloween has always been a time for fun, costumes, and community spirit. Its roots stretch back over 2,000 years to the Celtic festival of Samhain, marking the end of harvest and the start of winter. When Christianity spread, All Saints’ Day was established on November 1st, and the night before became known as All Hallows’ Eve—eventually, Halloween!
Here at Solheim, we’ve carried on that joyful tradition with hat-making, pumpkin decorating, costumes, and plenty of festive music. Thank you to everyone who joined in the fun and helped fill our community with laughter, creativity, and the true Solheim Feeling!
Tomorrow begins November, and your new monthly calendar is full of opportunities to celebrate the season of gratitude and thanksgiving. As we embrace this time of appreciation, we invite you to take part in the Employee Appreciation Fund, which will be distributed in December. Since tipping is not permitted, this fund offers a meaningful way to thank our wonderful staff. A suggested contribution of $300 per family helps us reach our goal, though every gift—large or small—is truly appreciated. Contributions can be made easily at www.solheimsenior.org/donate.
As the Merton and Manor Refresh Project continues, thank you for your patience and understanding. We’ll keep sharing updates as each phase moves forward. Please review the In-House Memo for details about work scheduled Monday and Tuesday that will affect the front lobby elevator and nearby air conditioning units. The finish line is in sight—we’re excited to complete the project before the holidays arrive!
All staff in our Skilled Nursing Campus must wear a well-fitting, high-quality mask or higher-level respirator. Visitors to our Health Center (Skilled Nursing) are required to wear a mask and will be offered a COVID-19 antigen test before entry.
