Weekly Update October 17, 2025

October 17, 2025

To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community

As our Merton and Manor Refresh Project continues, we’re excited to see the progress taking shape and appreciate everyone’s patience and good humor throughout the process. As noted in the more detailed resident memo sent out, we’ll begin the next phase of construction on Monday, which will include some demolition work and may bring increased noise during the day.

During this transition, our main entrance will be temporarily relocated to the Health Center entrance. Please follow posted signs and staff directions as we work to keep everything on schedule and ensure everyone’s safety. We’ll continue offering outdoor activities and off-site outings for those who prefer a quieter environment while this work takes place.

Even as we manage these temporary changes, our community calendar is full of opportunities to stay active and connected. The Book Club meets Saturday at 10:30 a.m., a wonderful chance to share ideas and enjoy good conversation. Monday afternoon at 2:00, join us for a scenic drive through Sunland and Tujunga—a resident favorite! On Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the Navigage Room, our Scam Prevention Seminar will provide practical tips on recognizing scams and staying safe. Two piano concerts are scheduled next week, one on Tuesday in the Chapel and another on Friday at 3:00 p.m., and our final Dinner Under the Stars this year will take place on Thursday at 4:00 p.m., featuring Chef Brooke’s delicious autumn menu. Contact Ashley Brayman for reservations and menu details!

As we look ahead to Halloween, get your costumes ready for our annual Costume Contest on Friday, October 31 at 3:00 p.m. in the Health Center Patio! Across campus, there are so many ways to engage body, mind, and spirit—be sure to check your monthly calendar or tune in to Channel 1390 for the latest updates.

Finally, as we enter this season of gratitude, we invite you to participate in the Employee Appreciation Fund, which will be distributed in December. Since tipping is not permitted, this fund provides the most meaningful way to thank our dedicated staff. A suggested contribution of $300 per family helps us reach our goal, though every donation, large or small, is deeply appreciated. Contributions can be made easily at www.solheimsenior.org/donate.

Thank you for your patience, flexibility, and kindness as we continue investing in the beauty and comfort of our community—together, we’re building a brighter Solheim.

All staff in our Skilled Nursing Campus must wear a well-fitting, high-quality mask or higher-level respirator. Visitors to our Health Center (Skilled Nursing) are required to wear a mask and will be offered a COVID-19 antigen test before entry.

If you have any specific questions, please direct them to Tina Antypas at 323-257-7518 X225 or tantypas@solheimsenior.org.
