Weekly Update September 5, 2025
September 5, 2025
To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community
As I walked through campus this week, I couldn’t help but smile at the apartment doors already decorated for our September birthdays. September seems to have arrived before we even had a chance to catch our breath! And while Southern California is still serving up those summer-like temperatures, the month brings with it a fresh shift in spirit—back-to-school energy, a touch of fall traditions, and the anticipation of a new season. Here at Solheim, that spirit of celebration shines brightest in the little things—like a decorated door and a birthday shared with friends.
Our September calendar is now available, so be sure to take a look and mark the activities that interest you most. Next week, we’ll hold both our Resident Council and Resident Town Hall meetings in the Chapel—Council on Tuesday at 10:00am and Town Hall on Thursday at 10:00am. These gatherings are an important way for residents to share their voices and play an active role in shaping life here at Solheim.
September also means football season is kicking off and baseball playoffs are on the horizon—a great excuse to gather with neighbors and enjoy the games together. Alongside sports, we have our usual variety of programs: games, crafts, church services, music, and of course Happy Hour every Friday at 3:00pm and Saturday Matinee & Popcorn. There’s also an outing to El Patron Mexican Restaurant on Tuesday, followed by a Root Beer Float Social at 3:00pm in the breezeway. A quick glance at the calendar is sure to uncover something you’ll enjoy.
We are especially excited about Solheim’s upcoming Oktoberfest! This is not only a wonderful community event but also a key fundraiser. While entrance is free to Solheim residents, food and beverages will be available for purchase. Sponsorship opportunities are available, and we encourage your support to help us make this event a success. For details, please visit www.solheimsenior.org/oktoberfest or contact Tina Antypas at tantypas@solheimsenior.org.
All staff in our Skilled Nursing Campus must wear a well-fitting, high-quality mask or higher-level respirator. Visitors to our Health Center (Skilled Nursing) are required to wear a mask and will be offered a COVID-19 antigen test before entry.
