Weekly Update August 29, 2025

August 29, 2025

To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community

As we look forward to the upcoming Labor Day weekend, we wish everyone a safe and enjoyable holiday.

High temperatures are expected to continue into next week. Heat can be especially hard on the body, particularly for older adults. Please remember to drink water often, use hydration stations across campus, and stay in cool spaces. If your air conditioning isn’t working or you need help, contact your nursing station or the front desk right away.

This week, our Health Center residents and guests enjoyed a beautiful candlelight fine dining event hosted by our dining team and Chef Brooke. With a record number of attendees, the evening was filled with good food, conversation, and connection. This special dinner will now be offered every month on the last Tuesday, with families welcome to join. Sharing a meal with loved ones is one of the simplest and most meaningful ways to enjoy time together, and we look forward to many more evenings like this.

We also celebrated a festive Hawaiian Luau on the Health Center Patio, complete with music, food, decorations, and plenty of aloha spirit. Social activities like these are part of what makes life at Solheim abundant—bringing joy, friendship, and opportunities to get involved in ways that matter to each of us.

The second remodeled bathroom near the Chapel opened today—thank you for your patience during construction. Work continues on the Lobby Expansion, which will soon provide a more spacious and welcoming area for gathering with family and friends.

Beginning September 2, Solheim will transition to using bubble packs from PharMerica to improve safety and efficiency in medication management. Residents may continue with their pharmacy of choice, but medications will need to be packaged in bubble packs. A 90-day grace period will allow time for this change. Benefits include improved organization, accuracy, and compliance. Residents who choose to continue with bottles will incur a $200 monthly storage fee. Please contact Mike Gonzalez with questions or to indicate your preference. More details are included in the memo sent out earlier.

At Solheim, everything we do—whether updating our campus, hosting special events, or improving care—is focused on creating a community filled with love, peace, dignity, and joy. Thank you for being part of the life we share together here! All staff in our Skilled Nursing Campus must wear a well-fitting, high-quality mask or higher-level respirator. Visitors to our Health Center (Skilled Nursing) are required to wear a mask and will be offered a COVID-19 antigen test before entry.
