To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community

This Monday we began our next remodel project—the Lobby Expansion into the Adjacent Room! In this phase, the current Merton and Manor lobby will be extended into the nearby vacant room, effectively doubling the size of this important gathering space. The new design will feature a welcoming lounge with a cozy fireplace and a bistro-style seating area, perfect for coffee, conversation, and casual fellowship.

You may have noticed a temporary wall as work progresses. This helps keep noise, dust, and disruption to a minimum. We know the lobby feels smaller for now, but when the project is complete, we’ll have a beautiful, spacious area to enjoy together. Thank you for your patience as we continue to enhance our campus and create spaces where community can thrive.

This week, residents enjoyed a variety of outdoor activities and off-site adventures. On Monday, we took a scenic drive throughout Eagle Rock highlighting Occidental College, Hill Drive and all the charming streets in between. Eagle Rock is filled with beautiful craftsman’s houses and bungalows. We zipped around the Eagle Rock as well! Look for next month’s adventure to La Crescenta and La Canada!

Tuesday a group visited the Hammer Museum followed by lunch. Next Tuesday’s plans include a Long Beach Harbor Cruise and picnic lunch—space is limited, with a cost of $15, so please see Ashley if you’d like to join. At the end of the month, on Friday the 28th, we’ll celebrate with a Hawaiian Luau featuring dancers. Come dressed in your Hawaiian best and join us at 3:30 on the Health Center Patio!

We were delighted to see so many at Wednesday’s Life Enrichment Chat. We love hearing your ideas and do our best to add activities based on your requests. Be sure to tune into Solheim’s In-House Channel 1390 for updates, and check the monthly calendars for events you won’t want to miss as we continue to offer a life filled with fun, meaning, and purpose. Together, we make Solheim a place where laughter, friendship, and new memories are part of every day.

As summer continues, please take care in the sun—stay hydrated and use our hydration stations throughout campus. If your air conditioning isn’t working or you need assistance, contact your nursing station or the front desk right away.

All staff in our Skilled Nursing Campus must wear a well-fitting, high-quality mask or higher-level respirator. Visitors to our Health Center (Skilled Nursing) are required to wear a mask and will be offered a COVID-19 antigen test before entry.

If you have any specific questions, please direct them to Tina Antypas at 323-257-7518 X225 or tantypas@solheimsenior.org.
