Weekly Update October 11, 2024

October 11, 2024
To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community

Our October calendar at Solheim Senior Community is packed with activities designed to enhance the mind, body, and spirit, offering plenty of opportunities for residents to participate and enjoy.  During the week of October 13, 2024, Solheim Senior Community residents can engage in a variety of exciting and enriching activities. A special Tye-Dye T-shirt activity with USC students is scheduled on Tuesday, October 15, offering a fun, hands-on creative experience (advance registration required). On Wednesday, October 16, the Employee Education Assistance Committee will hold a meeting, followed by the Library Committee gathering later in the afternoon. Thursday, October 17, will feature a Therapeutic Gardening session led by USC students, encouraging residents to connect with nature. Rounding out the week, the Cooking Club on Thursday afternoon will focus on making delicious pumpkin rolls, providing a chance for residents to enjoy a group culinary experience. Residents are encouraged to check their monthly calendars, Weekly Informers, or tune into Solheim’s In-House Channel 1390 for up-to-date information on activities and any changes to the schedule

Our annual “Resident Satisfaction Survey” has begun.  Once again this year, we will be offering this survey digitally – but rest assured, we will be happy to assist you in any way that we can.  These surveys will be available for our residents (or their Durable Power of Attorney for Healthcare).  These surveys are an important tool for Solheim to get a sense of how it is doing in the eyes of our residents, and to help us identify any areas in which we can strive to improve next year. This formal survey will provide us with a good baseline for starting 2025 with a focus on continuing to improve our operations.  I thank you in advance for your participation!

Fall brings a season of gratitude and reflection, offering a chance to express appreciation for our dedicated staff through Employee Appreciation. While tips are not allowed, you can make a monetary donation, equally distributed among staff during the winter holidays. You can also share encouraging words by filling out a Solheim Feeling Employee Recognition nomination card, available at the front desk or online at www.solheimsenior.org/employee-recognition. To make a monetary gift, visit www.solheimsenior.org/donate and select 'Employee Appreciation.' For assistance with systematic gifts, contact Tina Antypas. Your contributions help celebrate those who serve our community with extraordinary devotion.

All staff in our Skilled Nursing Campus must wear a well-fitting, high-quality mask or higher-level respirator. Visitors to our Health Center (Skilled Nursing) are required to wear a mask and will be offered a COVID-19 antigen test before entry.

If you have any specific questions, please direct them to Tina Antypas at 323-257-7518 X225 or tantypas@solheimsenior.org.
