Weekly Update September 27, 2024
September 27, 2024
To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community
We are delighted to welcome several new residents into our family! Solheim is a special place where active kindness, compassion, and joy in living come together to create what we proudly call the 'Solheim Feeling.' We encourage everyone to extend a warm hand, share a friendly smile, and take a moment to make our newest community members feel at home. Whether it is showing them around, helping them settle in, or inviting them to sit with you at lunch, every small gesture makes a significant difference. Let us all come together to foster that sense of belonging that makes Solheim so unique. Together, we will continue to build a community filled with warmth, care, and a genuine love for life.
We are excited to welcome another semester of Occupational Therapy students from the University of Southern California! These students will be with us every Tuesday and Thursday for the next nine weeks, with their final days being November 19th and 21st. To kick things off, we will be hosting a meet-and-greet on both days next week, so everyone has a chance to get to know them. These students are already brimming with creative ideas and have planned a variety of engaging activities to add to our October and November calendars. This is our fourth time hosting USC OT students, and we are delighted to continue this enriching partnership. Their presence brings fresh energy, innovative programs, and an opportunity for our residents to interact and benefit from their passion for occupational therapy!
We are ready to welcome October next week, and with that comes the closing of nominations for our 'Employees of the Quarter'! Be sure to get your nominations in by Monday, September 30th! I invite you to share your recognition of staff members and those good deeds, tangible acts of kindness, extraordinary care, and love shown by our staff. Nominations for our “Employees of the Quarter“ are always welcome, and the “Solheim Feeling” nomination card can also be found at nursing stations or at our front desk, or you can fill one out online at www.solheimsenior.org/employee-recognition. Your kind words help our staff to better appreciate just how their everyday acts of kindness and compassion help to foster an environment of “Abundant Living” for all our residents!
In addition, while tips are not allowed, you may show your appreciation by making a monetary donation that will be equally distributed among all staff members during the winter holidays. To make a monetary gift, please visit www.solheimsenior.org/donate and select 'Employee Appreciation’. You may reach out to Tina Antypas at tantypas@solheimsenior.org for more information or to set up a systematic gift.
All staff in our Skilled Nursing Campus must wear a well-fitting, high-quality mask or higher-level respirator. Visitors to our Health Center (Skilled Nursing) are required to wear a mask and will be offered a COVID-19 antigen test before entry.
If you have any specific questions, please direct them to Tina Antypas at 323-257-7518 X225 or tantypas@solheimsenior.org.
