Weekly Update September 20, 2024

September 20, 2024

To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community

We are closing in on the end of summer and this Sunday marks the first day of Fall.  It’s certainly starting to feel like it!  Although it’s warming up a bit this weekend, you can already feel the crispness creeping into the evening air, and here at Solheim our campus is slowly transitioning into Fall decorations. (I won’t even mention the fact that Christmas décor is already starting to show up in stores… let’s all just enjoy Fall first!)

This also means nominations for our “Employees of the Quarter” will be closing September 30th!  I invite you to share your recognition of staff members and those good deeds, tangible acts of kindness, extraordinary care, and love shown by our staff.  Nominations for our “Employees of the Quarter“ are always welcome, and the “Solheim Feeling” nomination card can also be found at nursing stations or at our front desk, or you can fill one out online at www.solheimsenior.org/employee-recognition.  Your kind words help our staff to better appreciate just how their everyday acts of kindness and compassion help to foster an environment of “Abundant Living” for all of our residents!

In addition, while tips are not allowed, you may show your appreciation by making a monetary donation that will be equally distributed among all staff members during the winter holidays.   To make a monetary gift, please visit www.solheimsenior.org/donate and select 'Employee Appreciation’.  You may reach out to Tina Antypas at tantypas@solheimsenior.org for more information or to set up a systematic gift.

Mark your calendars for a special highlight this weekend—a captivating Harp Concert featuring renowned harpist Bonnie Mohr, hosted by Solheim Lutheran Church. Join us in the Chapel this Saturday, 9/21, at 2 PM for an unforgettable afternoon of beautiful music. Don’t miss out!

As we mentioned last week, Solheim will once again be offering residents the Flu Vaccine and this process is underway.  We will not be holding a Covid-19 Booster Clinic this year, however if you would like help scheduling an appointment with a pharmacy or your health care provider, please let your nursing station know.

All staff in our Skilled Nursing Campus must wear a well-fitting, high-quality mask or higher-level respirator. Visitors to our Health Center (Skilled Nursing) are required to wear a mask, and will be offered a COVID-19 antigen test before entry.

If you have any specific questions, please direct them to Tina Antypas at 323-257-7518 X225 or tantypas@solheimsenior.org.
