Weekly Update July 3, 2024

July 3, 2024

To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From:
Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community
(Note: Due to the 4th of July holiday, this will serve as our Weekly Update.)

On July 4th, we celebrate the independence of our Nation and honor those who gave their lives for our freedom, along with our forefathers who built the framework for our country today. Independence Day is truly the most patriotic of all of America’s national holidays—and however you choose to celebrate this wonderful commemoration of the founding of this great Nation (be it by enjoying picnics, barbeques, fireworks shows, family gatherings, or simply reflecting on the legacy of our country), I wish our entire extended Solheim Family a very safe and happy 4th of July!

Be sure to join us on Thursday July 4th at 3pm in our Residential Dining Room for Patriotic Music with Bob Brandzel’s Band! The July calendar has been posted, and you may also view the daily activities by tuning into our Solheim In-House Channel 1390 for our community activities!  As the weather warms, we’re enjoying all that summer has to offer!  Check your calendars and our In-House Channel often and join in the festivities!

As I mentioned last week, nominations for our “Employees of the Quarter” closed at the end of the month, but we’ll hold these open until Monday July 8th!  I invite you to share your recognition of staff members and those good deeds, tangible acts of kindness, extraordinary care, and love shown by our staff.  Nominations for our “Employees of the Quarter“ are always welcome, and the “Solheim Feeling” nomination card can be found at nursing stations or at our front desk, or you can fill one out online at www.solheimsenior.org/employee-recognition.  Your kind words help our staff to better appreciate just how their everyday acts of kindness and compassion help to foster an environment of “Abundant Living” for all of our residents!

Our Library Committee has been busy!  Their enthusiasm is contagious, and their diligent efforts in cataloging and organizing books throughout our campus continues.  Solheim has just over 1000 books, not including a few bookshelves in our Health Center.  You’ll be amazed at what wonderful reads this collection offers everyone.

Each month, our resident-led Library Committee highlights their featured selections, and for June, the spotlight was on short stories! The committee’s focus for the month of July will be on the 67 Large Print books available on portable shelves in the Sun Room.  A list of these books can be found at the front desk!  Happy Reading!

Masks are strongly recommended for visitors. Staff are no longer required to wear a mask in the Health Center/Skilled Nursing campus. All Solheim visitors and staff members must continue to conduct self-screening for symptoms of possible COVID-19 infection prior to entry.

If you have any specific questions, please direct them to Tina Antypas at 323-257-7518 X225 or tantypas@solheimsenior.org.
