Weekly Update June 28, 2024
June 28, 2024
To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community
On July 4th, we celebrate the independence of our Nation and honor those who gave their lives for our freedom, along with our forefathers who built the framework for our country today. Independence Day is truly the most patriotic of all of America’s national holidays—and however you choose to celebrate this wonderful commemoration of the founding of this great Nation (be it by enjoying picnics, barbeques, fireworks shows, family gatherings, or simply reflecting on the legacy of our country), I wish our entire extended Solheim Family a very safe and happy 4th of July! As we celebrate, let us also remember Psalm 33:12, "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he chose for his inheritance." It is through our common spiritual beliefs and a shared commitment to God's teachings that we can find unity and strength as a nation.
Nominations for our “Employees of the Quarter” will be closing this Sunday, June 30th! I invite you to share your recognition of staff members and those good deeds, tangible acts of kindness, extraordinary care, and love shown by our staff. Nominations for our “Employees of the Quarter“ are always welcome, and the “Solheim Feeling” nomination card can be found at nursing stations or at our front desk, or you can fill one out online at www.solheimsenior.org/employee-recognition. Your kind words help our staff to better appreciate just how their everyday acts of kindness and compassion help to foster an environment of “Abundant Living” for all of our residents!
Our Library Committee has been busy! Their enthusiasm is contagious, and their diligent efforts in cataloging and organizing books throughout our campus continues. Solheim has just over 1000 books, not including a few bookshelves in our Health Center. You’ll be amazed at what wonderful reads this collection offers everyone.
Each month, our resident-led Library Committee highlights their featured selections, and for June, the spotlight was on short stories! We eagerly anticipate the committee's choices for July. Will they focus on the 67 Large Print books available on portable shelves in the Sun Room, or perhaps dive into popular genres like Romance, Reader’s Digest Condensed Books, Crime, Inspirational, and more? Stay tuned for next week’s newsletter to find out! In the meantime, be sure to visit the Sun Room and explore the committee's work so far!
Masks are strongly recommended for visitors. Staff are no longer required to wear a mask in the Health Center/Skilled Nursing campus. All Solheim visitors and staff members must continue to conduct self-screening for symptoms of possible COVID-19 infection prior to entry.
