Weekly Update October 8, 2021
October 8, 2021
To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community
I’m thrilled to say that over the last few months, we have welcomed a number of new residents into our wonderful Solheim community—and our “Refer-a-Friend” program is still underway! Any resident who refers a friend to Solheim will receive an incentive when that referral moves into our wonderful community and becomes part of the “Solheim Family.” And in fact, it’s even better than that: Both the current resident and the referred resident will also receive a $1,000 credit on their fourth month’s rent. Please contact Mamie Cornett or Lucy Laloyan in our Sales and Marketing Department for more information.
It’s also that time of year when we start gearing up to “celebrate the season”. This Halloween, Solheim will host a Costume Parade for kids and grandkids of residents, families, and staff alike. This spooky (but family friendly!) parade will begin at 3:30 pm on Sunday October 31st. There will be costume judging, with prizes and goodies bags for all. For more information, email KathyR@solheimsenior.org.
I mentioned this last week, but I think it’s worth repeating once again: Our Board of Directors has recently voted to reaffirm Solheim’s Corporate Mission Statement: “To provide abundant living for older adults in a caring, faith-based community filled with love, peace, dignity and security”. During this 4th quarter, we will be displaying our Mission Statement more prominently across campus, and striving to actively engage all of our staff members in an ongoing dialogue about our Mission. You can help us fulfill our Mission Statement and I want to remind you of one of the ways that you can do that. Our staff work hard every single day to help create an atmosphere of peace, mutual respect, and love here on campus, and we love to honor the superstars in our midst… and residents and their friends / family members can always nominate an employee for the “Employees of the Quarter” award, either with cards that are available at our nursing stations and the front desk or by filling out the form on our recently-renovated website (available online at www.solheimsenior.org/employee-recognition).
We continue in our protocol for visitations that went into effect recently: For visitations throughout campus—from our Health Center, to our Residential and Assisted Living Campus, to our Halvorson Memory Care Neighborhood—in accordance with new guidance provided by our regulatory agencies we will now require either proof of vaccination, or proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of the visitation. (We have rapid testing available on site, Monday through Friday, during business hours for unvaccinated visitors who have not been able to obtain a test within the previous 72 hours. Rapid testing returns results within approximately 15 minutes and there is a $20 administrative fee for this service.)
We also still ask for your continued partnership, diligence, and patience in continuing to follow all of these important rules, until further notice:
Visitors must show proof of vaccination, or a negative COVID-19 test dated within the last 72 hours
All visitors must still continue to check in when they arrive on campus (including temperature and screening questions) and sign our COVID-19 waiver;
We ask that all visitors wear masks and practice social distancing;
All residents, regardless of vaccination status, may have “in-room” visits;
Any personal “in-room” visits in our Health Center should be scheduled in common areas, or when the roommate is out of the room; and
We still continue to encourage outdoor visits or visits in our common areas as much as possible.
As of today’s writing, I am very happy to report that we have no new confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 anywhere on campus.
