To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community

Let Memorial Day be a day to count our blessings and remember those who served to protect our country and our freedom. We are forever grateful for the ultimate sacrifice of those who died for the United States of America. May their courage and dedication never be forgotten.

Consider one of these ways to pay your respects on Memorial Day:

Attend a Memorial Day event

Place a flag for a hero

Volunteer with a local veterans’ organization

Send a card or care package to soldiers

Share a personal reflection

Our renovations of the Sensory Garden and other outdoor spaces continue, and we thank you for your patience as these projects move forward.  We are excited to see the results of some truly beautiful refreshed outdoor space for our residents and families to enjoy this Summer!

Our Annual Meeting of the Corporation is scheduled for Sunday June 13th at 4pm.  Once again, this year, our Annual Meeting will be held virtually.  We will be presenting three new Board Members for consideration to join our Solheim Board of Directors.  By way of reminder: This meeting is a gathering of delegates from our ELCA church congregations and other interested parties.  If you would like to join us for our Annual Meeting, please contact Tina Antypas to request a link through which you will be able to digitally access this (virtual) meeting.

Our existing visitation guidelines still remain in effect.  For visitations throughout campus—from our Health Center, to our Residential and Assisted Living Campus, to our Halvorson Memory Care Neighborhood—we ask for your continued partnership and diligence in following these important rules:

All visitors must still continue to check in when they arrive on campus (including temperature and screening questions) and sign our COVID-19 waiver;

We ask that all visitors wear masks, practice social distancing, and schedule your visit with Kathy Rust at KathyR@solheimsenior.org;

All residents, regardless of vaccination status, may have “in-room” visits;

Any personal “in-room” visits in our Health Center should be scheduled in common areas, or when the roommate is out of the room; and

We still continue to encourage outdoor visits or visits in our common areas as much as possible.

As of today’s writing, I am very happy to report that we have no new confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 anywhere on campus.

If you have any specific questions, please direct them to Tina Antypas at 323 257-7518 X225 or tantypas@solheimsenior.org.
