Weekly Update June 4, 2021

June 4, 2021

To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community

I am pleased to announce the newest member of our Solheim Team, Pastor Violeta Sanders!  Pastor Violeta joins us as Solheim’s Pastor and Chaplain, offering religious and spiritual guidance and support to residents, families, and staff on both individual and group levels.  We are thankful to have Pastor Violeta as a resource for our Solheim Community.  She will be leading worship services and Bible Study on our Campus, and she will also be available for residents, family members and staff as needed.  Please join me in welcoming Pastor Violeta, and make sure to wave to her and introduce yourself when you see her on campus. You can also reach her via email at pastor@solheimsenior.org, or let our front desk know if you’d like to schedule a visit with her.

In order to enhance the dining experience for our residents in our Health Center, we will be implementing a new “tray-less” program where residents’ food will be plated and served fresh in the dining room.  This will help to ensure that each resident’s food is served hot and/or fresh as soon as they are seated and ready to eat. We will begin implementing this program for lunch in July, and our goal is to implement it for all 3 meals by October.

Our Health Center room renovations have also now been completed! Renovations of the Sensory Garden and other outdoor spaces continue, and we thank you for your patience as these projects move forward.  We are very excited to see the results and to have some refreshed outdoor space for our residents and families to enjoy this Summer!

Our Annual Meeting of the Corporation is scheduled for Sunday June 13th at 4pm—and once again, this year, the Annual Meeting will be held virtually.  We will be presenting three new Board Members for consideration to join our Solheim Board of Directors.  By way of reminder: This meeting is a gathering of delegates from our ELCA church congregations and other interested parties.  If you would like to join us for our Annual Meeting, please contact Tina Antypas to request a link through which you will be able to digitally access this (virtual) meeting.

Our existing visitation guidelines still remain in effect.  For visitations throughout campus—from our Health Center, to our Residential and Assisted Living Campus, to our Halvorson Memory Care Neighborhood—we ask for your continued partnership and diligence in following these important rules:

All visitors must still continue to check in when they arrive on campus (including temperature and screening questions) and sign our COVID-19 waiver;

We ask that all visitors wear masks, practice social distancing, and schedule your visit with Kathy Rust at KathyR@solheimsenior.org;

All residents, regardless of vaccination status, may have “in-room” visits;

Any personal “in-room” visits in our Health Center should be scheduled in common areas, or when the roommate is out of the room; and

We still continue to encourage outdoor visits or visits in our common areas as much as possible.

As of today’s writing, I am very happy to report that we have no new confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 anywhere on campus.

If you have any specific questions, please direct them to Tina Antypas at 323 257-7518 X225 or tantypas@solheimsenior.org.
