Weekly Update April 15, 2022
April 15, 2022
To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community
Faith communities everywhere are observing Holy Week and Passover. For Christians, the Easter story reminds us that death is not the end; there is still joy and hope after suffering. For the descendants of the Hebrews, Passover is, as it has been for thousands of years, a timeless story of liberation and promise. And for secular individuals, this is the beautiful season of Spring, which calls us outside so that we can shake off the cold of Winter. This time of year, we all somehow feel rejuvenated and motivated to make our lives, and the world, a better place. Regardless of your beliefs, I wish the goodness of this Season to all!
As I mentioned last week, Solheim will celebrate its 100th year of service to the community in 2023. That’s right, before you know it, we will be celebrating our Centennial Year! Founded in November of 1923, Solheim’s mission remains the same today! I invite you to participate in our Centennial Committee as they help plan a year of celebration! If you’d like to participate in the planning, please contact Tina Antypas (tantypas@solheimsenior.org)!
I’m pleased to announce that Solheim plans on bringing back our Eagle Rock OKTOBERFEST this coming September 24th! Please be sure to mark your calendars! Although I’ve not had the opportunity to participate in this event in the past, I’ve heard quite a bit about it, and know it’s brought many people from our community together for fun, good food, and a little chicken dancing!
Our visitation guidelines remain the same as last week – (please be aware that we stop offering rapid tests at 4:30pm). If you come to visit after that time, we ask that you provide your own proof of a negative Covid-19 test result from within the past 48 hours. I sincerely thank you for your patience, as our guidelines will likely continue to evolve considering changing regulatory guidance. Our current visitation guidelines are:
All visitors in our Residential, Assisted and Memory Care levels of living on campus may visit indoors if the visitor is fully vaccinated OR provides proof of a negative PCR COVID-19 test result within 48 Hours, or a negative Antigen test within 24 hours.
All GENERAL visitors in our Health Center (SNF) must provide one of the following prior to entering the facility for all indoor and in-room visits, REGARDLESS of vaccination status: a negative PCR COVID-19 test result within 48 Hours, or a negative Antigen test within 24 hours.
All ESSENTIAL visitors in our Health Center (SNF) are exempt from the testing requirement and may visit any resident in any zone regardless of vaccination status.
Testing is not required for OUTDOOR visitation.
Indoor visitors and visitors eligible for outdoor visitation must always wear a facemask during the visitation and physically distance themselves from facility staff and other residents and visitors that are not part of their group at all times during the visit.
Alternative communication such as phone calls, video calls, and online communication is always available.
To further mitigate the spread of COVID-19, if you are sick or not feeling well for any reason you should postpone your visit and not come to campus until you’re feeling well again.
Finally, I am pleased to say that, as of today’s writing, we have no cases of COVID-19 on campus.
