Weekly Update April 30, 2021
April 30, 2021
To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community
We have already received some very nice nominations for our next “Employees of the Quarter”, and I encourage you to share your kind words with us! As always, our fantastic staff continue working hard to create an atmosphere of peace, mutual respect, and love here on campus. Family Members and Residents may nominate an employee with cards that are available at our nursing stations and the front desk, or by filling out the form on our website, which is always available online at www.solheimsenior.org/employee-recognition. As I mentioned last week, we are also preparing to celebrate all our staff during “National Nursing Home Week”—which this year falls between May 10th and May 14th. We have a variety of fun and exciting themed celebrations planned, and lunch will be served for all of our staff each day during that week. If the spirit moves you, you may show your appreciation by either donating towards these meals, or by sponsoring a full day (~$1,500-$2,000). For more information, contact Tina Antypas at tantypas@solheimsenior.org or visit our website www.solheimsenior.org/donate.
We are currently putting the finishing touches on the interior refurbishments of our Halvorson Memory Care Neighborhood and Skilled Nursing room renovations, and work will begin in short order on several of our outdoor spaces. Please note that as these outdoor spaces are being renovated, we will be closing off access and adjusting outdoor visitation schedules to accommodate the renovations. We appreciate your patience as we’re under construction to make a better space for our residents and family members.
As guidance on visitations changes, we ask for your assistance in keeping our residents and staff healthy. For visitations throughout campus—from our Health Center, Residential and Assisted Living campus, to our Halvorson Memory Care Neighborhood, we ask for your partnership and diligence in following these important rules:
All visitors must still continue to check in when they arrive on campus (including temperature and screening questions) and sign our COVID-19 waiver;
We ask that all visitors wear masks, practice social distancing, and schedule your visit with Kathy Rust at KathyR@solheimsenior.org;
All residents, regardless of vaccination status, may have “in-room” visits;
Any personal “in-room” visits in our Health Center should be scheduled in common areas, or when the roommate is out of the room;
We still continue to encourage outdoor visits or visits in our common areas as much as possible
With Mother’s Day around the corner, we anticipate more visitations, and we appreciate your help in following these guidelines. If you or your loved one are either planning on leaving the campus on Mother’s Day, or having guests in for lunch, please let our Dining Director (Cynthia Slaterus) know by emailing her at CSlaterus@solheimsenior.org. We want to plan accordingly and accommodate everyone as best as we can!
As of today’s writing, I am very happy to report that we have no new confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 anywhere on campus.
If you have any specific questions, please direct them to Tina Antypas at 323 257-7518 X225 or tantypas@solheimsenior.org.
