Weekly Update May 7, 2021
May 7, 2021
To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community
This weekend, we celebrate Mother’s Day! Mothers are certainly worthy of the highest celebration—but of course, Mother’s Day isn’t just a day for celebrating our own mother. It’s a special day for honoring all of the women in your life who support and nurture you… from your sister, to your aunt, to your grandmother. Happy Mother’s Day! We have a wonderful Mother’s Day Tea planned for this afternoon, and Solheim is decorated in beautiful pink and white flowers! It has been a true blessing to see the smiles on our resident’s faces as we continue to welcome more visitors and expand our small group activities!
We’ve had no new changes in our visitation guidelines since last week, although as always we continue to ask for your ongoing assistance in keeping our residents and staff healthy. For visitations throughout campus—from our Health Center, Residential and Assisted Living campus, to our Halvorson Memory Care Neighborhood—we request your partnership and diligence in following these important rules:
All visitors must still continue to check in when they arrive on campus (including temperature and screening questions) and sign our COVID-19 waiver;
We ask that all visitors wear masks, practice social distancing, and schedule your visit with Kathy Rust at KathyR@solheimsenior.org;
All residents, regardless of vaccination status, may have “in-room” visits;
Any personal “in-room” visits in our Health Center should be scheduled in common areas, or when the roommate is out of the room;
We still continue to encourage outdoor visits or visits in our common areas as much as possible
Because this is a special holiday weekend, we anticipate even more visitors than usual—so we are particularly appreciative of your compliance with all of these guidelines. If you, or your loved one, are either planning on leaving the campus on Mother’s Day or having guests here for lunch, please let our Dining Director (Cynthia Slaterus) know by emailing her at CSlaterus@solheimsenior.org. We want to plan accordingly and accommodate everyone as best as we can!
As of today’s writing, I am very happy to report that we have no new confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 anywhere on campus.
You can always visit our (new and refreshed!) website for more information at www.solheimsenior.org, but if you have any specific questions, please direct them to Tina Antypas at 323 257-7518 X225 or tantypas@solheimsenior.org.
