Weekly Update January 22, 2021
To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Meg Pierce, Sr. Director of Healthcare Services
Dear Solheim Family and Friends:
I’d like to take a moment and share with you a message we received this week that helped to remind me why I, personally, chose to enter the business of caring for seniors in the first place. From a family member of one of our wonderful residents…
“This has been a difficult and emotionally raw time for my entire family. Your steadfast support and kindness towards our Mom and the rest of us has been a true blessing.
You have chosen to do work that is incredibly difficult, [and] made more difficult during these dark pandemic times. Please know that your work has value, has a true purpose, and has a grace that comes from making difficult/bad things better. In Judaism, we call that Tikkun Olam – to ‘repair the world’ or sometimes it is translated as to ‘perfect the world’.
It is one thing to talk about it and quite another to actually do it. We humbly thank you for doing it.”
Receiving messages like this are an incredibly important reminder that what we do here every day truly matters! To that end, I want to thank you all for your continued support and love—I don’t have to remind anyone that these are difficult times, both here on our campus and within the larger community, but I know that we will get through this together.
As of today’s writing, I am very happy to report that we have no new confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 on campus.
Solheim remains firmly committed to protecting the health and safety of our residents and staff. Please remember that everyone on campus will be required to maintain appropriate social distance measures and wear an appropriate facial mask at all times—and (as always) please don’t come at all if you are experiencing any symptoms of any illness!
