Weekly Update January 29, 2021
To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community
I hope this week’s update finds you healthy and dry here at the end of January! We have some positive news to report this week!
Curative Care, the entity overseeing the roll-out of the COVID-19 vaccinations will be onsite next Friday February 5th to administer the second dose of the vaccine for those interested and eligible Solheim staff members and residents who were able to receive their first dose a few weeks ago. For those staff and residents who were not able to receive their first vaccines on the 8th, they may schedule to receive it next Friday the 5th of February, when Curative Care returns to administer the second dose to the previous recipients.
Of course, notwithstanding Solheim’s cooperation with Curative Care to facilitate access to COVID-19 vaccination for the convenience of any and all interested Solheim staff and residents, interested staff and residents are completely free to obtain any COVID-19 vaccination, at any time, through any other provider or means that may become available to them in their individual capacity. Solheim staff and residents who are interested in receiving a COVID-19 vaccination are under no obligation to receive the Moderna-produced vaccine, or to choose to use Curative Care as their vaccine provider.
As we close out the month of January, I’m pleased to announce the addition of two individuals to our Solheim team.
Mamie Cornett has recently joined our Solheim Team and is assuming the role of Director of Marketing. Mamie started on January 18th and comes to us from Sage Community in Glendale, where she served as the Director of Sales and Marketing. Mamie has over 20 years’ experience working in communities offering active adult amenities and life care planning. She grew up in the Chicago area, will forever be a CUBS fan, and has a 10-year-old rescue dog named “Cody” whom I’m sure you will meet at some point. Mamie can be reached directly at extension 211 or via email at MCornett@solheimsenior.org.
Marie Garnett joins our team as our new Director of Residential Health and Wellness. Marie relocated from Ohio with her husband about 2 years ago, where she was the Director of Nursing of a 153-bed skilled nursing facility. Marie comes to us from Royal Oaks in Bradbury, where she served as the Director of Nursing for almost 2 years. She has over 20 years of experience in long-term care, working her way up from CNA, LVN, RN Supervisor, and Assistant DON. Marie will join us on February 16th.
Please join me in welcoming Mamie and Marie to the team!
As of today’s writing, I am very happy to report that we have no new confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 on campus.
