Weekly Update May 30, 2025
May 30, 2025
To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community
As Los Angeles experiences an early heat wave, we want to remind everyone to stay cool and hydrated. Hydration is so important, especially for older adults, as dehydration can set in quickly and quietly. We encourage you and your loved ones to drink water regularly throughout the day, and feel free to ask staff for assistance if you notice signs like dry mouth, dizziness, or confusion. We have hydration stations throughout the campus and also offer refreshing, hydrating snacks and beverages at meals and during activities.
Even with the rising temperatures, we’re fortunate to have so many beautiful outdoor spaces at Solheim where residents and families can safely enjoy fresh air and nature. Our shaded gardens, breezy courtyards, and gazebo areas provide the perfect environment to relax, visit, or simply unwind—especially in the early morning or evening hours when it’s cooler outside. Light clothing, sun hats, and sunscreen are always recommended when spending time outdoors.
This is also a great time to remind everyone about our Resident Referral Program. When you refer a friend to Solheim who moves in, both you and your friend receive $1,500 off your fee. It’s a wonderful way to share the Solheim experience with someone you care about and be recognized for it. If you’re interested or would like more information, please contact Emily Pierce, our Sales Counselor, or inquire at the front desk.
A friendly note on maintenance: for non-urgent repairs or requests, please use a Work Order form, which is available at the Front Desk or Nursing Stations. Our goal is to address these within 72 hours. For urgent matters such as leaks or safety hazards, notify a staff member immediately so we can respond quickly.
June is just around the corner, and our calendar is filled with opportunities to connect, learn, and enjoy community life. Residents and family members can look forward to opportunities to meet our staff, technology help sessions, Q&A discussions with nursing, live music, fitness classes, and much more. The June calendar will be available shortly—be sure to check your weekly and daily schedules or tune into Solheim’s In-House Channel 1390 for updates.
Looking ahead, we’re excited about the upcoming summer season. Plans are already in the works for Father’s Day, Fourth of July celebrations, and other seasonal events. If you have a family tradition, recipe, or summer story to share, let us know—we’d love to include your contributions in an upcoming project or feature.
As always, thank you for being an important part of the Solheim family. Stay safe, stay cool, and we look forward to all the joyful moments ahead this summer.
All staff in our Skilled Nursing Campus must wear a well-fitting, high-quality mask or higher-level respirator. Visitors to our Health Center (Skilled Nursing) are required to wear a mask and will be offered a COVID-19 antigen test before entry.
