To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community

Happy New Year! We’re excited to share that Phase 1 of the Merton & Manor Refresh Project will begin the week of January 6, 2025.

This project is a key part of our ongoing efforts to create a refreshed, welcoming environment where residents, families, and staff feel inspired, comfortable, and truly at home. The planned Phase 1 enhancements include:

  • New carpeting throughout the corridors

  • Fresh paint on all walls, ceilings, doors, and trim

  • Updated handrails and molding on the 1st and 2nd floors of the Merton & Manor building

Phase 2 will include the expansion and enhancements of the Lobby, and more detailed information will be shared as we approach Phase 2. Phase 1 is expected to take a minimum of 10 weeks to complete, with work occurring during regular business hours. While the lobby, entrances, elevators, and resident rooms will always remain accessible, there may be brief periods (approximately 20 minutes) when access to apartment doors is temporarily restricted due to painting or other work directly in front of the door.

You may have noticed that our team has temporarily removed and stored all artwork from the walls. Your monthly calendar will temporarily be located in the Navigage Room, however, know that we will continue to distribute our Weekly Informers, and you may always check our In-House Channel 1390 for daily activities. We will also oversee the relocation of corridor furniture when absolutely necessary, including bookshelves and hydration stations. Rest assured, we will provide updates on where these items will be available for your continued use during the project.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Meg Spurlin at mspurlin@solheimsenior.org directly.  Thank you for your patience, support, and enthusiasm as we move forward with this project, which will help enhance our community and further reflect Solheim’s mission of abundant living.

All staff in our Skilled Nursing Campus must wear a well-fitting, high-quality mask or higher-level respirator. Visitors to our Health Center (Skilled Nursing) are required to wear a mask and will be offered a COVID-19 antigen test before entry.

You can always visit our website for more information at http://www.solheimsenior.org, but if you have any specific questions, please direct them to Tina Antypas at 323-257-7518 X225 or tantypas@solheimsenior.org.
