Weekly Update October 6, 2023
October 6, 2023
To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community
This past week was a busy week for staff here at Solheim! We have now completed our Annual Skilled Nursing Survey, which is always a relief. Each year, the California Department of Public Health visits skilled nursing facilities for an intense multi-day licensing survey – showing up without notice, often either early in the morning or at the end of the day. This year’s survey lasted 4 full days, and I’m very proud of our team and their hard work in getting us through this challenging and important process. Much like our Resident Satisfaction Surveys, these annual licensing surveys provide valuable information that helps us to continue to improve!
Speaking of the Resident Satisfaction Survey, a reminder that it is underway, and this year we are offering the survey digitally (because it is MUCH easier for us to process the results that way)… but rest assured that we will be happy to assist you in any way that we can! If you haven’t already done so, you may visit the front desk and fill out the survey on the spot. Separate emails have been sent out with the survey link to our residents (or their Durable Power of Attorney for Healthcare). Please help us identify any areas in which we can strive to improve next year by taking the survey – the results will provide us with a good baseline for starting 2024 with a focus on continuing to improve our operations, and your participation is a critical part of this process!
Our biggest fundraising event of the year is just around the corner now… so if you haven’t already purchased your tickets, please do so by next Wednesday October 11th. The “Centennial Masquerade Ball” will be held at the lovely La Canada-Flintridge Country Club on Saturday, October 28th from 6pm – 10pm. Guests will have the pleasure of enjoying an evening of top-notch entertainment, delicious cuisine, and exciting auction items in a beautiful setting. And even if you’re not able to attend, please consider purchasing a congratulatory ad in our event Tribute Program or making a Centennial gift! For more information, visit www.solheimsenior.or/masqueradeball. Contact Tina Antypas at tantypas@solheimsenior.org or call 323 257 7518 (x225). This “not-to-be-missed” event is the capstone of our Centennial year celebrations, and funds raised will be put to good use benefiting Solheim as it enters its second century of serving seniors. I hope you will consider joining us!
Visitation Guidelines remain unchanged from last week. All Solheim visitors and staff members must continue to conduct self-screening for symptoms of possible COVID-19 infection prior to entry.
If you have any specific questions, please direct them to Tina Antypas at 323 257-7518 X225 or tantypas@solheimsenior.org.
