Weekly Update November 11, 2022
November 11, 2022
To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community
On this Veterans Day, we remember all of the men and women who have served our country with honor and bravery. Thank you for your selfless dedication to protecting our freedoms. Today, we honored all 13 Veteran’s living here at Solheim with Retired Major General Mark MacCarley as our keynote speaker. We thank you for your service. Happy Veterans Day!
Thanksgiving is just around the corner! Solheim welcomes all residents to invite up to 2 family members to a special Thanksgiving Buffet at 12:30 pm on Thursday November 24th for $28 per person. Invitations have been sent out, and the deadline to RSVP is next Friday, November 18th. For more information you may reach out to Ashley Brayman at abrayman@solheimsenior.org or by phone at 323-257-7518 x 224.
We are entering the season where we reflect on our blessings and give thanks. In the next couple weeks, you will have the opportunity to show your appreciation for our staff with the opportunity to offer a monetary donation, which will then be distributed equally among all staff. You may always offer kind words through our Solheim Feeling Employee Recognition nomination cards found at the front desk or nursing stations, or visit us online at www.solheimsenior.org/employee-recognition. These kind words mean the world to our staff!
Thank you to those who were able to attend our Resident Satisfaction Survey Kick-Off this week. These surveys will now be distributed to our residents (or their Durable Power of Attorney for Healthcare) next week. These surveys are an important tool for Solheim to get a sense of how it is doing in the eyes of our residents, and to help us identify areas that we are doing well and areas for opportunity to improve. This formal survey will provide us with a good baseline for starting 2023 with a focused commitment to making Solheim the best it can be.
A Reminder About Visitation Guidelines: The most recent State Public Health Officer Order states that skilled nursing facilities are no longer required or recommended to routinely test staff twice weekly and residents once weekly. (Out of an abundance of caution, however, Solheim will maintain its testing capacity and preserve its ability to ramp up testing if routine screening testing is required at some point in the future.) This Health Officer Order also states that skilled nursing facilities are no longer required to verify vaccination status and/or negative test results for general visitors seeking indoor visitation.
Accordingly, the following guidelines apply to ALL visitors in ALL levels of care on our campus:
• All visitors will be screened for a recent diagnosis of COVID-19, symptoms of COVID-19 infection, and close contact exposure.
• All visitors will be offered a COVID-19 test, but testing is not required.
• Only essential visitors will be allowed at this time for any residents having tested positive for COVID-19
As of today, we have no new residents or staff who have tested positive for COVID-19.
