Weekly Update October 28, 2022
October 28, 2022
To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community
Our general election falls on Tuesday November 8th. Many Solheim residents have already mailed their ballots in. If you feel that you need any support in either choosing an appropriate method of voting or in understanding any portion of your ballot, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your family for help. Our staff is available to assist you in getting to a polling place, or delivering your ballot to a polling place for you. Please contact Ashley Brayman at abrayman@solheimsenior.org if you have any questions. We are thankful for our right to vote!
As you know, we had to postpone the launch of our Resident Satisfaction Survey – the kick-off event is now scheduled for Wednesday at 2pm in the Residential Dining Room. These will be distributed to our residents (or their Durable Power of Attorney for Healthcare) following our kick-off event. These surveys are an important tool for Solheim to get a sense of how it is doing in the eyes of our residents, and to help us identify any areas in which we can strive to improve next year. This formal survey will provide us with a good baseline for starting 2023 with a focus on continuing to improve our operations.
As I mentioned in yesterday’s Resident Town Hall meeting, our Residential Dining Room meal times will return to our original pre-pandemic schedule. Breakfast is served between 7:30am and 10:30am, and the dining room will open at 12:30pm for lunch and at 5:30pm for dinner. We appreciate your understanding as our dining services team faces some staffing transitions. Solheim’s Dining Team prepares meals for all levels of care on our campus. This time adjustment will also assist us in making sure we’re able to provide meals for ALL levels of care on campus timely, and with the quality our residents deserve.
Visitation Guidelines: The most recent State Public Health Officer Order states that skilled nursing facilities are no longer required or recommended to routinely test staff twice weekly and residents once weekly. (Out of an abundance of caution, however, Solheim will maintain its testing capacity and preserve its ability to ramp up testing if routine screening testing is required at some point in the future.) This Health Officer Order also states that skilled nursing facilities are no longer required to verify vaccination status and/or negative test results for general visitors seeking indoor visitation.
Accordingly, the following guidelines apply to ALL visitors in ALL levels of care on our campus:
All visitors will be screened for a recent diagnosis of COVID-19, symptoms of COVID-19 infection, and close contact exposure.
All visitors will be offered a COVID-19 test, but testing is not required.
I am pleased to say that a as of today, we have no new residents or staff who have tested positive for COVID-19.
