Weekly Update October 7, 2022

October 7, 2022

To:
Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From:
Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community

Our Jewish friends observed Yom Kippur this past week, which is one of the holiest and most somber days of the Jewish year. It is a day of atonement, retrospection, and repentance.  For those who observe this Jewish tradition, we hope that you had a meaningful fast.

For those residents and staff who were not able to make our Booster Clinic last week and who wish to receive the COVID-19 booster shot, we will be hosting another one next week, as well.  The next COVID-19 Booster Clinic will take place on Wednesday, October 12th between 12pm - 4pm, in the large activity room in the Health Center.  Residents who are interested in receiving this booster and have not yet been able to receive it yet should let their nurses know

Please be aware that Monday, October 10th is the deadline to get your tickets to our Solheim Soiree—Paint-n-Sip Virtual Fundraiser, which will be held on Saturday, October 22nd from 7-9pm!   This is a combination art lesson and wine tasting led by Pinot’s Palette of Pasadena.  Enjoy a painting lesson by a professional artist, while sipping wine in the comfort of your own home!  And even if you’re not able to attend yourself, please consider sponsoring a resident!  For more information on this wonderful event, visit www.solheimsenior.org/paint-n-sip or contact Tina Antypas directly at (323) 257-7518 x 225.

As I mentioned last week, we have had a change in our visitation guidelines! The most recent State Public Health Officer Order states that skilled nursing facilities are no longer required or recommended to routinely test staff twice weekly and residents once weekly.  (Out of an abundance of caution, however, Solheim will maintain its testing capacity and preserve its ability to ramp up testing in the event that routine screening testing is required once again at some future date.)

This Health Officer Order also states that skilled nursing facilities are no longer required to verify vaccination status and/or negative test results for general visitors seeking indoor visitation.

Accordingly, the following guidelines now apply to ALL visitors in ALL levels of care on our campus:

  •     All visitors will be screened for a recent diagnosis of COVID-19, symptoms of COVID-19 infection, and close contact exposure.

  •     All visitors will be offered a COVID-19 test, but testing is not required.

I am pleased to say that a as of today, we have no new residents or staff who have tested positive for COVID-19.

If you have any specific questions, please direct them to Tina Antypas at 323 257-7518 X225 or tantypas@solheimsenior.org.
