Weekly Update August 19, 2022
August 19, 2022
To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community
Solheim’s Board of Directors collectively plays an invaluable role in guiding Solheim’s future – but our individual Board Members have many talents which they often use to Solheim’s benefit, as well! To highlight one recent example: Board Member Bob Menzies is a trained organist and pianist, and this Summer he has been helping to provide music for our Sunday church services while our regular pianist is on vacation! Thank you, Bob, for highlighting exactly the kind of selfless spirit that has helped Solheim to flourish for nearly 100 years now!
As I mentioned last week, we’ve added a number of new activities to our programming – such as chair volleyball, various board and card games, and word-related “brain games” –to help our residents keep both their minds and their bodies active. This week we also brought back a personal favorite, “Coffee with Sam,” which I’m happy to report had a great turnout and a lot of wonderful and free-flowing conversation. We’ve also been hosting many new entertainers (representing a wide array of musical genres) for concerts on campus. Staying active on a daily basis is critical to our well-being and health, and we’re here to provide opportunities for all of Solheim’s residents to stay active, get creative, and meet their physical, spiritual, and social needs. We value your feedback, so please don’t hesitate to reach out and let us know what you think of our new programming!
A reminder that the deadline to make a contribution to our fund to send staff to “Health Care Appreciation Night” at Dodgers Stadium is this coming week. This is a great way to show our staff your appreciation: $30 will help send one employee to the game, and $90 will send three employees! You may leave your donation at our front desk with “Dodgers” written in the memo line, or give online at www.solheimsenior.org/donate or CLICK HERE.
Our visitation guidelines remain the same as last week (please be aware that we stop offering rapid tests at 4:30pm). If you come to visit after that time, we ask that you provide your own proof of a negative Covid-19 test result from within the past 48 hours. I sincerely thank you for your patience, as our guidelines will likely continue to evolve considering changing regulatory guidance. Our current visitation guidelines are:
All visitors in our Residential, Assisted and Memory Care levels of living on campus may visit indoors if the visitor is fully vaccinated OR provides proof of a negative PCR COVID-19 test result within 48 Hours, or a negative Antigen test within 24 hours.
All visitors in our Health Center (SNF), including essential visitors who were previously exempt from all visitor testing requirements, must provide one of the following prior to entering the facility for all indoor and in-room visits, REGARDLESS of vaccination status: a negative PCR COVID-19 test result within 48 Hours, or a negative Antigen test within 24 hours.
Testing is not required for OUTDOOR visitation.
Visitors must always wear a facemask during the visitation and physically distance themselves from facility staff and other residents and visitors that are not part of their group at all times during the visit.
Alternative communication such as phone calls, video calls, and online communication is always available.
I am pleased to say that as of today we have no new residents or staff who have tested positive for COVID-19.
You can always visit our website for more information at www.solheimsenior.org, but if you have any specific questions, please direct them to Tina Antypas at 323 257-7518 X225 or tantypas@solheimsenior.org.
