Weekly Update July 1, 2022

July 1, 2022

To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community

On July 4th we celebrate the independence of our Nation and we celebrate those who gave their lives for our freedom, along with our forefathers that built the framework for our country today. Independence Day is truly the most patriotic of all of America’s national holidays—and however you choose to celebrate this wonderful commemoration of the founding of this great Nation (be it by enjoying picnics, barbeques, fireworks shows, family gatherings, or simply reflecting on the legacy of our country), I wish our entire extended Solheim Family a very safe and happy 4th of July!

Although I mentioned this last week and with the warm weather we’ve been having, I think it bears repeating: Hydration is very important! Drinking enough water each day is crucial for many reasons: to regulate body temperature, keep joints lubricated, prevent infections, deliver nutrients to cells, and keep organs functioning properly. Being well-hydrated also improves sleep quality, cognition, and mood. We’ve added new hydration stations throughout campus that will be stocked with infused water, in order to help keep everyone healthy and hydrated during these hot months – enjoy!

Our resident mailboxes in our Residential and Assisted Living campus are getting a much-needed refresh. Although the construction will cause a little inconvenience, we are looking forward to unveiling a fresh new look next week. In the meantime, residents may pick up their mail at the front desk anytime after 2:30pm.

I am pleased to announce that we have hired Solheim’s next CFO, and they will be joining our team in a couple weeks. Look for more information on this important new hire in upcoming newsletters!

Our visitation guidelines remain the same as last week (please be aware that we stop offering rapid tests at 4:30pm). If you come to visit after that time, we ask that you provide your own proof of a negative Covid-19 test result from within the past 48 hours. I sincerely thank you for your patience, as our guidelines will likely continue to evolve considering changing regulatory guidance. Our current visitation guidelines are:

  • All visitors in our Residential, Assisted and Memory Care levels of living on campus may visit indoors if the visitor is fully vaccinated OR provides proof of a negative PCR COVID-19 test result within 48 Hours, or a negative Antigen test within 24 hours.

  • All visitors in our Health Center (SNF), including essential visitors who were previously exempt from all visitor testing requirements, must provide one of the following prior to entering the facility for all indoor and in-room visits, REGARDLESS of vaccination status: a negative PCR COVID-19 test result within 48 Hours, or a negative Antigen test within 24 hours.

  • Testing is not required for OUTDOOR visitation.

  • Visitors must always wear a facemask during the visitation and physically distance themselves from facility staff and other residents and visitors that are not part of their group at all times during the visit.

  • Alternative communication such as phone calls, video calls, and online communication is always available.

As of today’s writing, we have no new residents or staff who have teseted positive for COVID-19..
