To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community

Happy First Day of Spring… even if it feels like Summer! Today marks the official first day of spring—a season of renewal, growth, and fresh beginnings. While spring often brings mild breezes and blooming flowers, this week’s sunshine and warmer temperatures are giving us a preview of summer. With the change in weather, it’s especially important to stay mindful of your health. Please remember to stay well hydrated and take advantage of the hydration stations located throughout campus.

As temperatures rise, your comfort is important to us. If you experience any issues with your air conditioning, please reach out to your nursing station or the front desk so we can assist you promptly. Your health, safety, and comfort remain our top priorities.

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of hosting a Clergy Appreciation Brunch, welcoming local clergy who provide such meaningful spiritual care in our community. This time of year—during Lent and leading into Easter—is especially significant in their work, as they offer guidance, reflection, and support to many. At Solheim, we share a similar calling: caring for people with compassion, presence, and respect. It was a joy to gather in appreciation, and we hope to continue this tradition in the years ahead. Thank you to all who were able to attend.

Looking ahead, our Solheim Book Club meets tomorrow at 10:30am. Reading offers many benefits, from keeping the mind active to reducing stress, and when shared in a group setting, it becomes an opportunity for connection, conversation, and new friendships. Whether you are a lifelong reader or simply interested in trying something new, we encourage you to join and be part of the group.

Next week brings a variety of opportunities to stay engaged and connected. On March 23, there will be an outing to the Norton Simon Museum. On March 26, residents can participate in a Tech Chat with Spenser, followed later in the afternoon by a tie-dye project with USC students. That same evening, our Residential and Assisted Living campus will host our quarterly Dinner Under the Stars. This event is always a highlight for residents, with Chef Brooke presenting a beautifully prepared and creative meal that makes for a special dining experience. Please be sure to RSVP to Ashley Brayman if you are interested in attending.

As always, we encourage you to check your Monthly Calendar, Weekly Informer, and Channel 1390 for additional activities and opportunities.

Please note our office hours are extended to 6pm Monday through Friday to accommodate families and visitors.

Wishing you a joyful start to the season—
Happy First Day of Spring (that feels like Summer!)
