Weekly Update January 23, 2026

January 23, 2026
To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community

Once again, our residents enjoyed a wonderful outing to the Bowers Museum, complete with lunch and a guided tour. Experiences like these are about more than the destination—they are about being together. Sharing a meal, learning something new, and creating memories side by side strengthen the sense of community that is so vital to our health and well-being. Meaningful social connection plays an important role in quality of life, and these shared moments help make Solheim feel like home.

We are pleased to welcome back students from the USC Occupational Therapy program. Beginning next Wednesday through Friday, and continuing for the next nine weeks (Wednesday through Friday), students will assist with our activity program. This valued partnership allows students to gain hands-on experience while bringing fresh energy and connection to our residents—an experience our residents truly enjoy. We are grateful for a collaboration that benefits everyone involved.

Our activity calendar continues to offer many opportunities to engage and connect. We encourage everyone to stay informed by tuning into Channel 1390, Solheim’s In-House Channel, for updates and reminders—and most importantly, to find a way to participate. Donations to Solheim help support this extensive programming. Gifts to our Activities Fund make outings like the Bowers Museum possible and help offset costs for residents who wish to participate. To donate, please visit www.solheimsenior.org/donate.

This week, we launched our Resident Satisfaction Survey, and we encourage all residents to share their input. Your feedback is essential in helping guide decisions and improve our community. A separate email will be sent with survey details, and paper copies are available at the front desk and may be returned there as well. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts.

As mentioned last week, Connie Truong, Solheim’s hairdresser, remains on medical leave until further notice and plans to return when she is able. In the meantime, Blair Linke is available to accommodate Connie’s clients and can be reached at 818-625-1867. Blair is a licensed cosmetologist with over 20 years of experience. For questions, please contact Ashley Brayman.

As a reminder, all staff working on our Skilled Nursing Campus are required to wear a well-fitting, high-quality mask or higher-level respirator. Visitors to the Health Center are required to wear a mask and will be offered a COVID-19 antigen test prior to entry. For additional information, please visit our website at www.solheimsenior.org. Questions may also be directed to Tina Antypas at 323-257-7518 extension 225 or at tantypas@solheimsenior.org.
