Weekly Update April 21, 2023
April 21, 2023
To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community
I mentioned last week that we’re focusing on getting our outdoor spaces ready for use as we approach the warmer days of Spring and Summer. On a related note, this week I’d also like to remind you that this also means it is important to actively stay hydrated! We have water stations spread out throughout campus, so please be sure to take the opportunity to regularly enjoy the various flavors of fresh fruit-infused drinking water offered by our Dining Department!
Speaking of getting outdoors, yesterday, residents took a trip out to the famous California Poppy Reserve to get a gander at the eye-popping super bloom! Our 30-passenger bus was full, and I saw many smiling faces! Thank you to Ashley Brayman and our Life Enrichment team for choosing the perfect day… the weather couldn’t have been better!
Solheim is excited to welcome a 3rd Hairdresser to the community. Blair Linke will join the team on May 2nd. Blair has been a licensed cosmetologist for 21 years and has been working in Senior communities just like Solheim since 2013. Blair will be in the Salon on Tuesday or Wednesday. To book a Hair appointment please call her directly at 818-625-1867 or reach out to Ashley Brayman at abrayman@solheimsenior.org.
Our campus-wide rewiring project is well underway, and we hope to have it all completed within the next month. This project includes upgrading wiring throughout campus to be able to provide upgraded and faster Wi-Fi not only in our common areas, but also for each resident apartment. (On a related note, within the next few months, we are also planning to roll out a custom-designed Solheim Senior Community in-house TV Channel which will be available in all private rooms across campus – more to come on that soon!)
Finally, I’d like to thank everyone who took advantage of our Shredding and E-Waste Drop-Off event this morning! I believe it was a huge success, and we will certainly consider offering this service again.
Visitation Guidelines have changed. Masks are no longer required for residents, team members and visitors however are still recommended or encouraged. Masks are still required for all team members and visitors to our Health Center (Skilled Nursing). All Solheim visitors and staff members must continue to conduct self-screening for symptoms of possible COVID-19 infection prior to entry. We ask all staff and visitors to confirm the following upon entry:
Currently have no known COVID-19 infection;
Not experiencing symptoms associated with possible COVID-19 infection; and
Have not had close contact, within the last 14 days, with another person known to have a COVID-19 infection
As of today, we have three (3) residents in our Memory Care Neighborhood who have tested positive for Covid-19.
