Weekly Update January 20, 2023
January 20, 2023
To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community
Last night was a magical evening with a celebration of our staff. We haven’t been able to celebrate our long serving staff as we did pre-pandemic, but we certainly made up for it by kicking off our Centennial year. Not only did we announce and celebrate our Employees of the Quarter and Employee of the Year, we also celebrated over 800 years of cumulative service of 62 wonderful employees (5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and even two 35 year team members)!
Our Employees of the Quarter for the 4th Quarter of 2022 are: Judith Rodriguez in our Skilled Nursing Campus; Beverly Nieva in Dining; Shirley Cario in Activities; Rick Rodriguez in Facilities and Myrin Santuyo in our Residential Care Campus (Halvorson Memory Care and Residential/Assisted Living). Each of these 5 individuals have gone above and beyond, helping make Solheim a loving home for so many.
In addition, we celebrate our Employee of the Year, Lydia Llavore! Many of you know of Lydia, as she handles all of Solheim’s billing, and works quietly behind the scenes! Lydia also celebrates 20 years with us, and has been an invaluable asset to Solheim, our residents and family members! Please be sure to greet these individuals as you see them and congratulate them on their service! What a great way to start off our Centennial Year—celebrating so many individuals who have helped get us to where we are!
I mentioned this last week, but it’s worth repeating. I recently had a chance to speak with a friend of Solheim whose mother lived with us several years ago. As we spoke, I realized that we have so many friends of Solheim with stories to share – and that I really want to hear more of those stories! So to help make that wish a reality, we’ve created a Centennial Hotline! Please feel free to call Solheim and ask for our Centennial Hotline [323-257-7518 (x246)] so you can leave a message for us! And we won’t just selfishly horde them for ourselves – your messages will also be used on our website, social media, or other promotional materials to spread the world about “The Solheim Feeling” as we prepare to enter our second century of serving seniors in Los Angeles. I’m looking forward to hearing your kind words, stories, your relationship, and how you came to know Solheim! Give us a call and leave us a message!
As a reminder, the Book Club meets tomorrow, Saturday, January 21, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Solheim Senior Community in the Navigage Room. All are welcome. It’s a great opportunity to invite your friends or family to join, as well! If you’re interested, please contact Ashley Brayman at ABrayman@solheimsenior.org.
Visitation Guidelines have been updated. Proof of negative COVID-19 tests are no longer required, however you may request a rapid test if you desire.
All visitors will be screened for a recent diagnosis of COVID-19, symptoms of COVID-19 infection, and close contact exposure.
As of today, we have no new residents or staff who have tested positive for Covid-19.
