Weekly Update November 21, 2025
November 21, 2025
To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community
As we put the finishing touches on our Merton and Manor refresh project, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt appreciation for your patience throughout the many improvements we have completed this year. Your understanding and flexibility have truly made a difference. Temporary seating has now been placed in the lobby while we await the arrival of our permanent furniture. This newly expanded space has been designed for residents to wait comfortably for guests or scheduled rides, and for visitors to relax when arriving on campus. It also provides a welcoming area to enjoy the rotating artwork, savor a cup of coffee, or read the morning newspaper.
As we begin using this refreshed space, I want to gently remind everyone that it is a shared, common area. To ensure the comfort, privacy, and safety of all who use it, we ask that phone calls and private conversations be taken elsewhere—just as we do in the dining room. Similarly, we kindly request that personal mail not be opened in this space. Protecting your privacy is as important to us as protecting your well-being, and these small courtesies help maintain a peaceful and respectful environment for everyone.
Thank you to all who RSVP’d to bring guests to our Thanksgiving Buffet next Thursday. We are very much looking forward to the beautiful menu Chef Brooke has created, and we are confident you will enjoy every part of the celebration. For those who would like to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, we will be showing it at 10:00 a.m. in the Fountain Room. Surrounding the holiday, we also have a scenic drive through Burbank planned for Monday, as well as an outing to the San Antonio Winery on Wednesday for a guided tour.
Looking ahead, please mark your calendars for our Christmas Tree Trimming on Monday, December 1st, from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. in our Residential Dining Room. This gathering is always a joyful way to usher in the Christmas season together, and we hope you will join us in kicking off this festive time of year.
A final reminder: the deadline for contributions to the Employee Appreciation Fund is quickly approaching on Friday, December 5th. We extend our sincere thanks to those who have already given. Because tipping is not permitted, this fund provides a meaningful opportunity to show gratitude to our devoted staff. While a suggested contribution of $300 per family helps us meet our goal, every gift—no matter the amount—is deeply appreciated. Contributions can be made easily at www.solheimsenior.org/donate, or you may contact Tina Antypas at tantypas@solheimsenior.org or by calling 323-257-7518 ext. 225.
All staff in our Skilled Nursing Campus must wear a well-fitting, high-quality mask or higher-level respirator. Visitors to our Health Center (Skilled Nursing) are required to wear a mask and will be offered a COVID-19 antigen test before entry.
If you have any specific questions, please direct them to Tina Antypas at 323-257-7518 X225 or tantypas@solheimsenior.org.
